Paying the I-129F filing fee

Hi everyone,

This is my first post as I've just begun the I-129F petition process. My first big question is about paying the $340 filing fee. I live in Italy. I have an american bank account but don't have checks here and I can't have them sent to me abroad. My fiance and I have no idea how to make a money order in this country. It doesn't appear that any of the local Western Union locations offer this service.

I'm really hoping I won't have to have a family member send me one of my own checks from home through a courier service or something.

I read somewhere that certain field office accept credit cards but how do I know which ones and how that even works?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

contact the nearest U.S. consulate or embassy for instructions on the method of payment.

The problem is that contacting this embassy is easier said than done. All numbers lead to prerecorded messages which list other numbers for irrelevant services. The only line which I can call to talk to an operator is the one to make an appointment, but to do that I have to pay 15 euros and can't even talk to a human being before giving my credit card information!

USCIS doesn't care who the US check/money order is from as long as it's the correct amount. You could transfer some money to a (trusted) family member or friend, send the petition to them and have them attach the money order/check before sending it to the Chicago lockbox.

At least that way you won't have a check or money order out in the mail before it has to be shipped with the petition.

Otherwise there's a few posts on the same subject here; http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/289948-submitting-k1-petition-and-fees-from-abroad/

Stop hoping and act. That's what you need to do. Alternatively, you could send the package to them, ask them to include a properly filled out check of their own and send it on to Dallas for you.
