Hi all,

The hubby and I have had all the necessary paperwork and forms to file our taxes here in the US and Canada for several weeks now, SAVE for my T4E for the unemployment I collected for 10 weeks when I moved here last March. I've already called to follow up once to make sure they had all my info and everything would go smoothly but I still haven't received anything.

Has anyone here received theirs yet? If so, where are you located (East Coast, West Coast, etc.)?

Much obliged,

phel.

Who is sending the T4E to you? If its CRA it was taking me over a month to get any " snail mail " from them. Thats when papers were already late and I was requesting them for 2nd time from them. I'm just in Nebraska too - not that far from Canada.

yes - you're 100% right, I don't believe they're legally obliged to send it until end of Feb.

You can print off your T4E though your "My Service Canada Account" Just click log in if you've already created an account or register for one if you haven't already(you'll need your access code - the 4 digit number you would have used to complete reports, your SIN, DOB and mothers maiden name)

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Courtney, but for some reason I've never been able to log on to my service canada account. My access code never worked and getting assistance with it was a nightmare. In the end I just did everything manually.

I know how touchy the website is.. The reason I gave you this option is because when you completed your application it stated "Would you like to receive your T4E online" ( I'm not sure of the exact wording ) if you clicked on this then that means that you will not receive your T4E by mail. You might want to contact service canada to make sure they are mailing it to you and of course that they have your correct address.

(I worked for Service Canada EI dept and the wording on the application regarding the T4E was one of the biggest issues we had during this time of year, people didn't realize that by clicking this option they wouldn't receive their T4E by mail)

Hey Courtney,

So I called to follow up yesterday and after a long time on hold got a nice agent who said they would mail me my T4E but who also gave me temporary passcode to get a new access code by phone to be able to access Service Canada's website to register to see my T4E online immediately

She tells me to call the same number, enter my SIN, enter my temporary passcode and that it will let me select a new passcode. So I do step one and step two, then it asks me what region of Canada I live in. Press 1 for the maritimes, 2 for quebec, 3 for ontario and 4 for the rest of Canada. I wait. It asks me the same question over. I can't get a new passcode to get an access code to register for SC to see my T4E BECAUSE I'M NOT IN CANADA. Ugh. I'm not calling back and waiting on hold again. I'll just get mine in the mail.

WHY DO THEY MAKE IT SO FRAKKING HARD????

Hey Phel,

First of all I am so sorry that you are having so much trouble with this. The agent that you spoke with should have asked you more questions! I'm assuming you were collecting EI while in US, therefore your claim is what they call an "Interstate Claim"!(the agent you spoke with should have realized this because of your US address) It's been a while (Sept2011) since I worked for service canada but since she gave you a temporary access code you can't get the old one back, and as you've seen it doesn't give you the option for Interstate Claims. There is a special number you can call and speak with agents who deal only with interstate claims, they might be more helpful. Keep in mind that there aren't as many agents in this dept, so I believe they have an answering machine that you can leave a message if no one is available at the time to take your call. Now I can't remember which number it is but it's either: 1-800-206-7218 or 1-877-486-1650.

Having said all of that did the agent inform you that they only print the new T4E on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thurday's and that they wait until all original T4E's have been sent before printing the requested ones?

I hope this helps, I'm sure you'll get the re-issued T4E shortly! But if you can't wait you can always call an interstate agent to see if there is anyway they can get you online to print it off!

Take Care, Courtney
