I'm curious to know the meaning of Sidikatu. I've looked online and couldn't find anything. My husband could only tell me it is an old Nigerian name. It's a female name. Does anyone have any ideas?

Here's a yahoo Q&A: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110112070619AAgYWtL

I was able to find "Sindikatu" (not necessarily a name) which is Slovenian for "Union". Other than that there are a couple of people called Sidikatu but absolutely no references to what it means online. I couldn't even type it into a translator to get a Nigerian translation...

Some names just don't have meanings. For instance "Vanessa". A lot of people say it means butterfly but it doesn't. It was a name an author made up in a book from two different names. It's also the name of a genus of butterfly which is why people say it MEANS butterfly but it doesn't. It's just a madeup name with no meaning.

Its actually a version of an Arabic name, Siddiq (there are lots of ways to spell it of course). It means "truthful" or "honest". If I am not wrong, it was one of the nicknames of one of the companions of Prophet Muhammed (s) whose name was Abu Bakr. He was known as a truthful person and was often known as Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq (Abu Bakr the truthful/honest one).

This seems to fit. The name is altered for a female and she is Muslim.
