Woohoo!!! I can work!!! Case status was updated today and the work authorization has been approved :-)

Congrats! I've got my fingers crossed for Rob to get his EAD soon. He actually had an interview with a web design and marketing company (they know of his immigration status, so they won't hire him without EAD). They seem interested in him, so the sooner that card comes, the sooner we'll have a two income household.

I'm the really slow one!!! Haven't even sent in Aos papers yet. I'm working on them now.... Decided to change my name so another trip to the SS office this Monday, hope it's coming in fast so I can go get my drivers licensce already!

Not sure if it's the same in all the states, but in FL, you have to have the NOA1 from the AOS in order to get your license (that may also be just to exchange it)

Here in Illinois, you have to have your EAD card to even get a license. I've let Rob drive my car a bunch, though, as he needs to learn so he can pass his road test. Not sure if it's legal, but better to learn with me than fail the driving test!

Ok so my status was updated again today :-) It reads "On February 14, 2013, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you." Not sure if we actually have to have it in hand to start a job or if our word is enough?!? Any thoughts or knowledge on that one??

Just got the email from USCIS that my I-765, and I-131 have been approved. Now only 2 more to go....

Congrats!!! All the numbers around Rob's have been approved, so I'm hoping ours is soon. It has been a while since I've been playing the numbers game on the USCIS website!

I think you'll have the card within a week or two, so I would think you would be fine looking for jobs now. It is up to the employer if they take you on before your card arrives - If you want to be completely safe though, wait for the card.

The numbers don't mean much this time unless they are being processed at the same office as Rob's. I don't know what offices the number's are around my number, but on either side of my number they've got their cards or interviews - I'm at the Washington office, which is slow - I know those around mine are more than likely processed at different offices - so it's hard to compare, the only thing to go on really is the AOS timeline for the office your application is at on VJ (http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aoslist.php?cfl=&op5=5,6,8,9,10,11), select K1 and the CIS Office you're at and click find. I put them in date order and look at the ones around my date to see their process.

I didn't realize that. Rob's application is at the National Benefits Center in Missouri (we have an MSC number), and to our knowledge, our stuff hasn't been transferred anywhere. So does everyone get an MSC number, but the applications are adjudicated in more local offices? Admittedly, I've been a little confused about where AOS/EAD/AP applications actually get processed, since there seems to be a lot of random transfers that happen.

That's correct, the National Benefits Center processes some and sends out others to local processing offices. Then there's also if they decide if you need an interview or not. If they decide not to give you an interview, the application gets put on a pile of ones to issue green cards for, but that seems to be slower than if you actually had an interview. It used to be that interview AOS's they decided didn't need an interview were sent to California, but that changed a year or so ago. Now the National Benefits Center processes them - At least that is what I understand of the process from my investigations.

The NBC said that both my EAD and AOS would be processed at Washington, still chasing the NOA for the EAD. My AOS has not been touched since 12/19/2012 - though I expect to hear from them before the website actually updates.
