Thanks for the congrats - having a wee down time before heading out to be tourists with the family - since we had to fly down and stay anyway we're staying 2 nights and having a last wee family holiday :) So thought i'd take a wee moment to revisit my morning...

5.45am - gave up on sleep!

6.30am - time to get up and shower

7.30am - left hotel to walk the 2.5 miles to the Embassy mostly thru Hyde Park - nice relaxing walk :)

8.30 - phone deposited at pharmacy and in line for security at the embassy! After emptying my bag and everything going thru the scanner separately following the scanner showing electronics, he finally asked if I had any cards that have batteries or anything and I thought - OH YEAH!!!!! I had 2 cards in the file that Jason had sent that speak to me!! He took them back out to mum who had been waiting to see me in ok and gave them to her! Bag repacked, rescanned and off I went to go in!

8.40am - sitting in embassy - let the wait commence!

9.00am - Called to window 14 where I had to submit all the forms - birth/police certificates and affidavit with supporting evidence. Finger prints taken. She asked a couple of times if I had been previously married - I felt like saying "Yes ma'am I AM 32 and never married!!" After seeing the Government headed employer letter she asked when Jason had returned to the US so obviously assumed he had been here and we met here so I put her right!

9.45am - INTERVIEW TIME!!!

Fingerprints checked and sworn with right hand raised to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth lol!!!

Questions:

When did you meet? August 2nd 2011

When did you return to the UK? End of September

How often have you seen each other since then? Just talked thru our year

When did you get engaged? February

So that was just 6 months after meeting? Yes sir, you know, we are both 32 and we knew what we were looking for in a partner and had been praying a lot about meeting the ONE.

How do your parents feel about it all? They love him so are happy for me!

How do you keep in contact? - Video chat, magic jack, email, cards

Where does he live? Frederick - he works at Fort Detrick

Do you have savings or will your fiance be supporting you fully? - I have savings due to selling my flat which we have used some of to pay off his car and student loans so we can start married life debt free - he seemed impressed by that!

Where is his family from? Knoxville, TN

Does he have brothers or sisters? 1 brother, 2 sisters

Who is the oldest? his brother - he's 10 years older

What is his name? Charlie

Does he have family? 2 sons

What are there names? Caleb and Ben

How old are they? 18 and 15

What school is Caleb going to go to? He's not sure what he wants to do yet so hasn't gone to school this year

All felt very much like just chatting - not like an interrogation at all even tho it looks like it after writing all that down!!! It was all very relaxed and he was smiling all thru it so I did too!!!

He told me it was approved and altho I was SCREAMING and jumping up and down inside I managed to maintain composure and just grinned excessively and said thank you a lot and wished him a good day!

Went to the courier desk to pay for delivery - tried to do the guaranteed before 8am but earliest they would do for where I live was before 12pm. I asked if paying a few £s more for that would prioritize me over standard payments and she said yes so I went for it! What's another £4 in the grand scheme of things lol!!!

Lol, it sounds just like my interview, wonder if it was the same guy :D Well done Sarah!

Interview this morning - APPROVED!

Will post his review later but he was asked for nothing other than the i-134 and the appointment letter. 157 pages of skype history printed for nothing. :P

One moment of panic when the interviewer said he had to check on something in his police report that might make him ineligible but all was well. He even gotten flirted with by the girls at the courier counter, so I'm guessing he thinks it was a day well spent.

Congrats to all the approvals and weddings and whatnot that I will catch up on tonight!

SLMcT - good luck tomorrow!

Congratulations :)

I love seeing these approvals, POE and weddings coming into our forum! :)

I was feeling a little unwell before my flight and was unwell for a couple of days after. It's great to meet up again, you get to share the first hug and kiss with no return flight, some of us lucky ones even get to share our first colds together too!

I'm sorry if I'm asking a question that has been answered already (maybe multiple times), but I was wondering if my fiancee could apply for her SSN as soon as she arrives to the States? I was looking at some threads that said that she would be able to, and some that would say that she wouldn't be able to. What has been your experience for those whose loved ones has entered already?

Great news coming through this thread (minus Cori who has the plague LOL ;) ) ... I love it!!

I booked Tom's flight to come up for our interview. I will be seeing him in 32 days, and the interview is in Montreal, in 35 days! Medical in a little less than 2 weeks now. It's exciting now that it's all moving forward :) Now if only someone would buy my condo, we'd be set!

No she can not! Anyone who is entering on a Visa to the US (no matter what type of Visa) should wait about 10 business days in order to have their arrival records in the SS system. If you go earlier to the SSA office they either won't be able to give her SSN or as I have read in the VJ guide, they will try to manually verify your fiancee's arrival record which will delay the process. I'm sure you have read this guide, but just in case: SS guide

Therefore, safe bet is to wait about 2 weeks after her POE and then go to the SSA office ;) hope I am right, as we have not yet done this part :D others please correct me ;)

I applied for mine the week after I landed and got it in the post the following week. Generally the advice tends to be to leave it for 1-2 weeks after POE.

That's correct, 1-2 weeks. We decided to go after a week to see if they had me on the system and they did. So I landed Friday 12th, applied at the SSN office the following Friday 19th, received my SSN card Friday 26th :)
