Thank you honey - and how lovely to have that last piece of the missing puzzle in your hand!!

A question for anyone - where is the elusive 'DO NOT OPEN packet'? I've totally forgotten what I read about that - does it come with the visa?

My understanding is the infamous 'do not open' envelope comes with your visa. My understanding is everything is shipped in a bag. The visa is loose in the bag and the envelope will be in there too,

It all came in one big bag from express mail. The package contained my passport with visa (YAY!!!), social security reminder paper, yellow "Don't open" envelope and another little envelope that scared bejesus out of me: it was also yellow and horror of horrors - it was torn on the bottom! I had no clue what was inside. Moreover, I didn't even know I was supposed to be getting it. There were no marks on it telling not to open, and it was closed just with the string, not glued or taped... I took my chances to open it, so in case there was something serious inside I would contact embassy telling them about a ripped hole. It appeared only to be originals of pictures my honey had send to USCIS with I-129f that embassy was sweet enough to return )))

The visa is basically a label, similar to the details page in your passport. The visa will be stuck on a page in your passport. In the delivery bag you get a massive envelope (it doesn't need to be as big as it is), your passport with the visa in it and a small sheet of paper explaining the rules of the visa - getting married in 90 etc..

Congratulations to everyone that has progress. As I type, I'm lying on the floor looking at Heather in our lovely apartment :) I haven't yet unpacked my cases, it just great to be here, finally! :D

So, how was things yesterday? I had a good flight, it was difficult with the final farewells to family at the airport. At Dulles the only hiccup was that I hadn't got an I-94 form on the flight - I guess they give them out then, I had done the customs form. So when I got to the immigration desk and said that I was here on a K-1 the immigration officer asked if I'll filled out the I-94, I said no and he gave me one to go and fill in. I then got in the queue for the same immigration desk again. The immigration officer was quite nice and chatty, he did ask some questions customs style ones and a couple about me and Heather - nothing difficult.

He asked if we had a wedding planned, I told him we had and it was October 27th. He said, really? You're serious? I said yes. He then said that it was his wedding anniversary! :) He then went on to say when I'd have to leave the country if we didn't get married (90 days), which came out as January 9th, which happened to be his birthday!

He stapled the I-94 in my passport and stamped the passport. He also wrote a big zero over the Entries bit of the Visa that had said one. He gave that back to me and then sent me on my way. I picked up my cases and then headed to customs, no problems or questions at customs - I think because the immigration officer had already dealt with it.

Then just a short walk to the 1st and then 2nd exit doors and in to Heather's arms :)

What a lovely story... I can't believe you're already there together! How differently we feel when the interview is done. To be able to talk in the 'definite' instead of the 'maybe' is worth all those months of waiting, hoping, fearing the worst.

Relax and prepare for your wedding you two. I hope you have a beautiful day together. And thanks, Gavin, for reviewing the immigration process for us. Makes me feel much better knowing what to expect. :)

For those whose interviews are coming up, think calm thoughts - don't stress (easy to say now :P ) because the process at the embassy is actually very straight forward. Just another day of work. If you have all the right documents and talk honestly about a relationship you know is genuine, you have nothing to fear. The staff are really very pleasant.
