Our case was fowarded a few weeks ago to the consulate in Rio de Janeiro, but I still haven't received a packet from them and I still don't have an interview date. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I've tried e-mailing the consulate, but I'm not getting any solid answers from them.

Thanks!

Not sure how the embassy in Brazil handles that, have you checked online at their website to see if its available online?

You may want to ask this question in the Brazil forum

I am also having this same issue. Consulate in Lagos, Nigeria. We actually received the notice on December 22nd! Still no packet or date! I also sent them an email and tried calling with no reply.

I don't have any idea what the issue is. Seems like its taking longer than it should. Good Luck!

No... nothing online. The only contact is through e-mail =/

It's the first time I write a post here and I'm still a bit lost. Is there a specific area for brazilian questions?

There is a forum for South America, found here.

What exactly did they say in the email? When I tried to contact them about our interview date a couple of years ago, they responded fairly quickly saying they had not received our case yet. The next time I emailed, a couple of days later, they had a date for me. I noticed that recently the interviews have been taking a couple of months to arrive. I would email again in a couple of days and make sure they have received your case. You can ask

if the interview has been scheduled yet as well. My friends recently went through their interview in Rio and were given 2 months notice before the actual interview date. Good luck to you!

They've said they had the package but no interview date yet, but that when they did, they would get in touch. But it's been a while since that last e-mail and nothing arrived here. You're right... I guess sending another one is a good idea.

Thanks!

That's probably it then. They are backed up and haven't assigned interview dates far enough into the future to be able to notify you. Hopefully in the next few days you will have a response. You can download the forms you need and start filling them out now. Also you should prepare new intent to marry letters from each of you. I know personally how slow the mail system in Brasil can be, so you can mail your letter now to be sure it gets to your finace on time. The letters must have original signatures. Also, when you are ready to schedule the medical appointment, may I recommend Dr. Duarte in Rio. He is great and efficient!
