Quick question:

I am pretty sure I already know the answer to this but just thought it might be good to ask... The validty on the I-129f petition has nothing to do with when my fiancee can enter the US, correct? Her original approved I-129f petition expires this month, but we have her Visa in hand and she is flying up in April. The only thing that matters is the expiration date of her Visa, correct? That is good for 6 months after issuance. So, even though she is coming in April, after her original petition has already expired, her Visa is still valid, and that is all that matters? Figures it never hurts to make sure on stuff like this :) Thanks for taking a second to respond!

You are right. The expiration date of the petition doesn't matter anymore, only the one of the visa. :)

This is a good question as not all visas are valid for 6 months from when you receive it. Make certain to enter the USA before the expiration date that is on the visa. The petition expiration date is how long the petition approval was valid for and most embassies/consulates can extend that date if the process takes longer. Typically the K-1 visa is good for 6 months, but there have been a few people that have noticed that the expiration date was not 6 months after the date they received their visa in hand. Please double check that.

Congrats on getting the visa,

Dave
