Best online stores to shop for a saree or salwar kameez?

I've bought clothing on my trips to India but we never have a whole lot of time and frankly I hate to waste time shopping for clothes when I could be spending it with K instead. Plus, he HATES shopping whistling.gif

I'm getting married in May and would like to choose a nice saree or salwar kameez (lehenga choli will be worn during our Hindu ceremony in Jan 2013).

I'm not really concerned with the price. I know it will be cheaper if I bought it in India but I'm more concerned about the quality and convenience.

Are there any good websites that anyone could recommend that carry good quality clothing and that would ship to the U.S.? If you've had personal experience purchasing a saree or salwar online that would be even better!

Doesnt look if India is cheaper anymore! :) As far as for online experience, you may not able to see alot of varieties, and you may end up paying alot of money, and may not get the same result. The most important thing is that you can't feel the fabric online. It is really fun to shop for special event in your life. I personally dont like to shop but my darling loves to shop Saree, so I have to go with her! :) Last month she counted that she has 34 best sarees plus she has given away some sarees ( dont know that number ).

I find high risk to shop online for saree from India, lets say if it got misprint, or something wrong, then it is really bad deal then!

I've used that utsav sight and purchased a casual salwar kameez for about 30 bucks. It was well fit and loved it. But for the best bargains, I give my husband and sisters my measurements and they have someone there make my dresses.. its much cheaper

I did purchase several really nice ones on ebay too... all under 40 dollars.

I've used eastessence and have been very happy with the products. They carry mainly clothing that is muslima friendly but I really like their kameez selection. I mix them with leggings/solid pants that I can try on in the stores as I have wacko proportions [at least that's what I think when I look in the mirror :blush: ]

I have crazy proportions too. I'm very tall (5' 10") and have a large bust so ready made clothing is not typically an option for me.

When you buy a saree from ebay does it typically come with a blouse and petticoat as well?

I only bought salwar kameez don't really know much about sarees. :( But when i did make the purchases from ebay I was totally satsified!!

Update: I took a chance and ordered a few suits and sarees from Sareez.com. The prices were just too good. :)

I got my clothing the other day and I can't be more impressed. kicking.gif They fit like a glove which is incredible seeing how they only went off the measurements I submitted and a brief set of instructions.

Anyways, I highly recommend this site! I will definitely be shopping there again! good.gif

Good to know - just found out I need 7 [yes, 7] formal suits for my BIL's wedding. :wacko: May the online shopping begin!

Make sure to check out coupon sites like retailmenot.com for codes that will take your cost down. I've found a few for Sareez and other sites. :) 7? Wow you do have a lot of shopping to do!
