So I've now applied for an AOS from a K1 Visa. I've applied in my new married name, and have my official military dependent id in married name as well.

I've applied for EI through Canada and that is all in my maiden name, along with passport and drivers license.

Did you guys change all of your Canadian id's as well or can you keep it in your maiden name? Does this cause any problems?

Thanks in advance!!

I have ID's and credit cards in both my names as they are both legal. Some cheques come to me in my former name, some come in my current name. I took my passport (former name) down to my local bank so they have that info on file. My bank in Canada also has a copy of my marriage certificate for when I'm up there. I get zero hassle anywhere. This includes travel with my passport (former name), GC (married name), and NEXUS (married name).

I changed everything into my married name except my SIN # and Health Card and I think my OSAP student loans (I can never remember what name they have when i call!)

I did wait until my passport expired to change it, so I did use a passport with my maiden name for over a year and it was fine. Always just booked my ticket in my maiden name because that is was security uses to verify the ticket.

I would urge you to change at least your driver's license as well into your married name, and your SSN, and just have everything in the US in your married name. I personally just think it makes the most sense and is less confusing.

But, stuff in Canada like your SIN #, health card, even the EI is fine in your maiden name. I did however chance my Canadian bank account information to my married name since all of my photo ID is now in my married name.

In my experience, whatever I can do to make avoid any issues or having to deal with stupid people who don't understand is my goal!
