Waiting for Oath Ceremony Letter still!

My citizenship was approved at the Washington Field office on Prosperity Ave on January 3. Since I had to do a name change, they told me that they would send me a letter within a month with a ceremony date. It's been over one month and I still haven't received anything. Apparently the name change was approved and I was put in que for the next ceremony. There have been a number of ceremonies since and I have not received anything. Any idea how long it takes? Thanks in advance!

No idea on how long it is actually going take. Looking at people that had their interview in October the oath ceremony seems to be all over the place. Many of us are dealing with different field offices. If you are getting concerned, then there is a number that you can call. By checking your case status on UCIS's website you should be able to locate this pnone number. I believe there is a statment that you should expect your oath ceremony to be scheduled within 45 days of your recommended approval. So, if you haven't recieved a ceremony date by mid-February then you may want to call.

I had waited for over 53 days after the interview - no oath letter - so I scheduled an InfoPass appointment.

They scheduled me then, for the next available ceremony in my area.

I suggest you wait for at least 45 days, then add another week, and then (if yo still haven't received your oath invitation) go for an InfoPass.

It's due to your name change, I believe they have to have a judge available when a name change is involved. I went through Fairfax and my Oath was a week later and a friend just had her's last week and it was same day. It's the name change which is causing the delay. It's only been a month so sit tight!

Thanks for your insight all. It has already been 45 days. We made an appointment and went to the office and they indicated that it can take up to 120 days, in April at the earliest. We took back the request for the name change and hoping that we will now end up in the administrative files soon and get called to the oath ceremony.

Good information, thank you for sharing it. Good luck with the change of plans--hope they can adjust quickly. Wow, so we may be looking at May.

Yes. He was sworn in today after 6 1/2 months. I met someone who had to wait for his ceremony over a year and someone else since March so you never know what the wait is going to be like. It seems to be a mess! Good luck!
