I just received the signed G-325a and Intent to Marry from my Fiancee. Now, I need to finish up printing needed documents, etc.

I was thinking of putting all of the documents in a thin Report binder. I have some protective covers to put signed documents and pictures in and I am thinking of hole punching non-signed documents. Then putting all documents in this report binder. I was thinking this might help prevent lost documents if the pages are loose.

Should I use the report binder or just mail the documents loose in an envelope?

I sent mine all loosely arranged behind a coversheet. I used a paperclip to adhere the photos I sent with it. I did have an RFE but not because of lost papers or lack of binder!

Think about them having to sort through many applications. If they have to have them loose leaf, then what a pain it will be for them to take it out of the binder and page protectors that you have put them in.

I recommend not paper punching them and putting them in a binder. Just add a coversheet for organization sake, thow it in the envelope and send it off!

Good Luck! :)

...

That is the same thing I was thinking, it might cause them more effort/work.

I think I will place the passport photos and pictures of my fiancee and I in its own envelope or clear sheet protector. Then place all in a larger envelope.

Thanks!

I just met with an immigration officer today about my RFE for the I-129F, she said not to put anything in a binder, just use a sturdy paper clip or one of those heavier clips )not sure what theyre called). Also just an FYI, my RFE was for evidence of meeting, and the lady today basically said that may have happened because I did not highlight the important things such as passport stamps, boarding pass name date, all that kinda stuff. So make sure to highlihght important pieces and make notes on the pages explaining what they are! :) Good luck

No, use paper clips and binder clips. No holes, no binders. Don't worry.

Do you mean to use a highlight pen and mark important info?

I have made notes on the top or bottom of the page to describe records that are not obvious. Other records like boarding passes and itinerary's are rather self explanatory, so I did not make a note on that paperwork.

When I was in the Philippines, my fiancee and I flew from Manila to Cebu together, I have boarding passes for both of us on the same flight, so I hope that by itself makes the point. I have also included many other documents. I am now choosing which pictures to send and I will write on the back names, dates, and place. I met her family and I will include that picture as well.

I hope to send in my initial package tomorrow morning. I am thinking Fed-Ex express mail.

i read somewhere no highlighers it could make coping difficult..

i put a paper clip to all sections of the K1 that were in my table of contents.. i did put a purple cover sheet and a white paper with title written like table of contents.. each of those sections were paperclipped..

i put the photos of us together in a large ziplock, and snack size ziplock for passport pics. i put that all into a 10x13 envelope.. and then into a USPS priority envelope.. certified mail/return signature return..

my fiance was here with me.. and wanted to use binders and folders etc.. but USCIS is just going to put in what ever order they want..

Yes I was told by the immigration officer today to use a highlight pen. Even stuff as seemingly self explanatory as the passport stamp! crazy i know. even boarding passes she told me to highlight the name date and departure arrival, and again make a connotation on that page stating "jamie R and Jamie A flight to hawaii august 2 2009" and then highlight that as well. She said make it as easy for them to see and understand as possible, so they cant miss the important dates and facts. Anyway, you may hear other things, and obviously i dont work for uscis so dont know what they want, but this is just what i was told today. :) Oh and also if you were on the same flight i would recommend putting both your boarding passes on the same page, again so that its very obvious.

We used paper clips for all the docs, and the few photos we sent. No problems at all. We did do a cover letter listing all the documents, and clipped them in the order of the cover letter. The easier you make it for USCIS, the better! Good luck.

Good Idea! I will do that. Back to the scanner.

I scan the documents and when I print them, they are larger than the original. I hope this is a good thing, making it easier to read.

...We did do a cover letter listing all the documents, and clipped them in the order of the cover letter.

What kind of detail did you use on the cover letter? Did you have general categories or did you list every document?

So far this is what I have. I am considering adding more detail. (For example, in the Proof of ongoing relationship, I am thinking of adding sub-bullets like: ~One Week Vonage Telephone Report.) Or is the detail below sufficient?

- Payment in the amount of $340.

- I-129F

- G-325A and passport style photo (Petitioner).

- G-325A and passport style photo (Beneficiary).

- Birth certificate/US Passport (Petitioner).

- Letter certifying intent to marry (Petitioner and Beneficiary).

- Proof of having met in person in the past two years.

- Proof of ongoing relationship.

The detail you gave is sufficient. Just put them in the order that you list. And for each category you can use a paper clip to differentiate them. No need to list every item. For the proof of ongoing relationship I had a cover letter for that and then list each item on it such as photos, emails, phone records etc, then I put them all together with one paper clip.

I found on the USCIS website to NOT use a highlight pen.

"Use black or blue ink only. Do NOT use highlighters or red ink on your application as they may make your materials undetectable when scanned."
