On the I-129F for question 18 'describe circumstances of how you and your fiance met' how much detail is required? I met my fiance while on vacation in Las Vegas last June, do we need to include all the times we have visited each other since then or just focus on the time that we initially met each other.

I would "very briefly" state how and where you met, list the trips you returned, and plans for the future. It is hard to do in a few sentences but if you stick to the most important points and list only the major things and future plans, that's good enough.

Just the time you met like what you just said you met while on vacation in Las Vegas that is good enough. Mine was like 2 sentences when I filed my petition....Good luck

i forgot, exactly.. but it was about 3 paragraphs.. who, what, when, where, how.. kind of stuff.. from first contact, to firsts visit in person.. to official engagement.. it was put in as an attachment..

We explained how we met in a few detailed lines, then listed all the time we've spent together - 22 visits over 3 years, so it took about 2/3 of an A4 printout. Figured it would help them paint a picture of us, and they could see how the accompanying evidence (passport stamps, boarding cards, photos) fitted in. Titled it, dated it, signed it and put with the I-129F, and wrote 'see attached explanation' or something on the actual form.

We wrote about 2 paragraphs on a separate sheet describing the multiple trips each of us made. Exact dates, locations and who else we met (such as each others family members).

Dates of the meeting. That combined with the primary evidence you'll be sending will corroborate all.

And the size of the box is the length of the answer they are looking for....like two sentences max. Many people like to tell their life story and all it does is slow down the adujucation of the their petition.

Any of the above. You need to describe how you met her at least one time in the past 24 months. I would imagine most people descrbe the first meeting, you can describe any meeting. You dono tneed more than one or two sentences to describe it, in fact your post does it quite well. "I met my fiancee while on vacation in Las Vegas, June XX, 2011" That pretty much does the trick. Attach evidence of meeting. We used passport stamps, boarding passes and one photo.

You've gotten good answers above, for your situation (UK), and it applies to many other petitioners' circumstances. Thinking ahead to the consular phase, petitioners whose beneficiaries will interview in difficult countries (China, Vietnam, Ecuador, and some others) would do well to "front-load" the I-129F petition with a longer statement, or even a timeline, of the meeting and relationship.

USCIS will not care, as long as its own requirements are met. However, USCIS will pass everything in your petition to the consulate where the beneficiary will interview, and it can be important for several reasons that the consulate receive certain material in advance, from USCIS.

Petitioners would do well to consult their appropriate regional subforum here on VJ, and to read "Embassy Info" and "Reviews: Embassy" (links atop every VJ page), to learn what might be appropriate.
