That is right, USUALLY it takes 5 months to a year, but in some cases, even less than 5 months or even more than a year. But as soon as you filed the i-129F form, and the receipt was sent back to your petitioner, the counting and waiting begins!!! Welcome to Visa Journey!!!

Welcome to the waiting club!! As they said our waiting time could be anywhere from 5 months to over a year, especially us that Cuba is a different story! It will take forever before we get our interview, you know how it goes ;) Anyway, good luck in your journey =)

lisel, it can take up to 5 months to get the noa2 which is the approval letter saying everything is great. after that there is a 2 weeks period to where is transfer to the national visa center and once that happens you have to call to obtain the case number which it will start with HAV..it can take less than 2 weeks ok. After you obtain that number you have to call the number to set up interview in the consulate and you have to set up..dont fall for the visa journey information about other countries cuba is different you set up your own appt...if your bf is from havana he will get a telegram after you get the interview set up with the date of the interview and a pass to come get the paper he will have to fill out. Mostly its about him. If not from havana I am unsure how they send that information but you can print out the papers in visajourney its 156 and all the others. The thing he will have to get now its his passport because without that you wont be able to set up the interview...and well once the interview its set up then you wait....He needs an appt to do the medical exam and he needs to have it for at least 2-3 months before interview so he can get all his paper on time..the affidavit make sure its a good one even though they didnt even looked at mine...With cuba its all having all the documents thats needed and good luck. Visa journey helped me a lot so research here all the phone numbers and peoples experiences. Not everyone has had bad luck. My interview was 4 min..My fiance its already here timewise expect a year hopefully less. Good luck and patience cause you will need it...Feel free to contact me if you need help.

Hi Lisel and welcome to VJ. As Claudia said, always keep in mind that some of the process is a little different with Cuba. My bf is from Sagua La Grande in the province of Villa Clara, and he got a telegram, although it did not say anything about the interview, all it said was when and where he could pick up the forms to fill out. After he picked up the forms from the USINT, he forwarded them to me. When I reviewed them, it turns out that all the forms CAN be downloaded from the internet and filled out. I filled them out for Amel and will take them to him when I go for the interview. If you have any questions, please post them here and I will be happy to assist you. Good luck and may you get approved quickly because I know that the wait can be agonizing.

4/1/2011 - Mailed I129F
