Hi all,

Well we got married on the January 17th, small ceremony with her close family at the courthouse :)

I am back in the UK again now, and we are about to start getting all the paperwork together to file. One question I have though is, we have:

phone records,

email records,

copies of letters sent to each other,

copies of envelopes sent to both of us over the xmas period

Numerous pictures

My name will be on her consumers and phone bills (cant get my name on her rental lease)

Joint bank account showing names (God bless Bank of America)

How much extra information other than 'Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties' should we send? We have 1200 pages of chat history from MSN and Skype, but I am unsure if these should be printed and sent also? And advices on whether to send the chat history or not as it only shows up to us getting married, not ongoing marriage afterwards?

Any help/advice be greatly appreciated :)

Apologies to everyone. I was merely curious about the opening of a US bank account for someone that doesn't have a legal status, yet, as everywhere I read and everyone I speak to insists on having an SSN in order to open anything. I want to make a large deposit next time in the US. Does that tend to make things a little 'easier' then?

To the OP, I think you're just about set with the info you already have, especially for the London Embassy. If you haven't already, get yourself over to the UK specific forum and I'm sure others 'more in the know' will chime in if there's anything you need or are missing. I've found them all to be lovely and very helpful with their advice and suggestions.

Dusting...lol..

Bank of America are one of the few banks that will open a new joint account for a US citizen and a NON US citizen :)

Whole process for us took about 2 hours, as she could not do what the computer wanted her to do, so it involved a lot of calls to her manager, poor girl, but she was very pleasant and professional and the account got opened fine with a $25 fee (had to be deposited there and then).

Sorry again for hijacking! That's really good to know that there's a bank out there that offer this service. Do you know if it's company-wide? or just specific to the region of the US you're in? I think I'll be visiting BoA if it's the later!

Do NOT send 1200 pages of chat with your I130, unless you want the adjudicator to sigh when he sees your file and put it right back at the end of the queue

The proof of joint bank account is good, SOME pictures (not 2000) but you'd better write the date, location, and name of people on the photo on the back, maybe copies of your travel itineraries/boarding passes/passport stamp showing you visited her several times.

We sent nothing other than the affidavits. For the I-130 they want evidence of your ongoing relationship so the phone/email evidence from before you were married is not totally relevant. The bills and joint bank account are good. We had no evidence of financial co-mingling at the time we filed so we couldn't send it but it wasn't an issue. We had more by the time of the interview but it wasn't needed.

Incidentally, after we filed Bank of America added me to my husband's account with no legal resident status. It took just a few minutes. That was in Georgia.

Ok, thanks all, wasn't looking forward to printing all that off hehe, and assumed it would not be 'as' relevant as we are now married.

Thanks again.

Oh yeah, my husband added me to his BoA account although I'm not there yet, he had no difficulty, and it was in CA. He also added me to the lease without any problem.

I too was able to get a joint account with BOA when I was last with my hubby just after we got married a few weeks ago. This was in Tennessee on base. All she wanted was my passport and driver's license.
