This is the first time in my long life to post a comment on an internet bulletin board of any kind. I am moved to do it by the growing bond I feel with all of you who participate in this forum. When I first happened upon this forum, its contents increased my anxiety about the I-129f petition process. Lately, however, as our wait for Vermont to act approached and then passed the anticipated 5 months, I find this forum to be a comfort. So many of us in the same boat.

My fiancée and I approached this process rather straightforwardly, carefully reading and following all of the petition instructions to the letter. We naively assumed that nothing more was necessary. Having now read so many stories of disappointment and frustration, we realize that the process is much more complicated and arbitrary than the instructions make it appear.

I do not understand all of the lingo on here. The official date of my petition’s receipt at Vermont was January 27; is that what is meant by the “NOA1” date I see on most of the posts? And what does “touched” mean? Is there a glossary somewhere on this site?

Finally, thanks and the very best of luck to every one of you.

Welcome aboard :) glad you decided to join our little family :)

NOA1 is the form you got in a post after they received your petition. We however go by the date they received it , which is shown on the USCIS website when you log in to your case (assuming you created an account on their website and added EAC number to your portfolio)... touches are simply the updates that you can see when you log in to your account, that basically means nothing, just shows when was the last time they touched/moved your petition ;)

You can see a rundown of the various acronyms here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Acronym_Summary

Yes, your NOA1 date is the date of receipt at the service center.

Touched means that your petition has been scanned/moved to another desk, but does not necessarily mean it's being adjudicated. If you register on the USCIS site using your case #, you can see the status of your petition.

Great news about getting the LND number! I called yesterday and was given the 15 day spiel, but of course, our case is coming from CSC. I just hope they've worked out that cluster that happened with the May folks.

Yea...I called today and it has been 15 business days today for us......we are CSC, too. So I am worried. We've got another long wait coming up with even just getting the interview date so CSC slowing things down by not sending out the files is not making me happy! But the lady who answered on Wed. said that if they still don't have it next week, I can send a copy of our I-797C and they can do a search for our stuff.....I am hoping that when I call on Monday morning, they will have it and I will get the new number next week......fingers and toes all crossed!!!!

Chicago works for us! 4-5 hour trip depending on traffic/construction....and I have family there as well. We could hit up Chicago while visiting my college home of Milwaukee!

I have family in Texas as well and it is a fun state to visit but the drive is a bit prohibitive due to gas costs! Plane tickets out of StL lately have been outrageous...some politician must have done something to drive airlines away b/c no one is flying in and out like they used to so prices are sky-high (hehe). The airport is DEAD now...really creepy since it used to be one of the busier hubs in the region....

How's the airport expansion going? I use to drive under the future runways and expansion up Lindbergh Ave. Didn't they buy out all those homes, do half the work, and quit construction?

Yep, basically. I think they finished some of it and left a lot of land just empty. There is absolutely no point in expanding now!!!!!!!!!!! Ugh. It's crazy!

Well, I ordered my tax transcripts last week and got them today. I thought it might have been a "sign" unsure.gif haha so I followed up with my so-called helpers.

I called my House rep Green's office and even though it was immediately assigned to a case worker, I couldn't ever get her on the phone this week and she hasn't called me. I keep missing her in the office type deal. whistling.gif

I called my 2 senators' offices to see if they got my paperwork and what they were doing. Hutchison's office said it will take them 2 weeks to process and get it assigned to a case worker. (really? headbonk.gif ) Cornyn's office didn't even say a time frame, the poor kid just kept repeating, "When the Senator is personally able to call on the matter, he will do so and let you know." blink.gif

I do have a lawyer, but they won't call and make a service request until its 5 months and 30 days. I thought that was actually kind of funny that he kept saying it like that and I said, "Don't you just mean like 6 months, can we just say 6 months?" wacko.gif haha

So, I guess the "sign" I was getting said, "Just keep waiting." Oh well.
