I-129F Package - Where we plan to live

Hi,

So, I meet the income requirements, I have a decent job, college educated, respectable work history, but i have one concern...

CONCERN

I live with my parents currently just because its very close to my job, saves money and over-all, it is convenient. On one of the forms it lists "Where do you and your fiancee plan to live". Well, I don't plan to live with my parents by the time all this is said n done and my fiancee is on a plane ride over here.

The reason I am concerned is because I don't want to get my parents involved in this at all. I don't want to even get close to having to list them as a co-sponsor or being in a position that requires them to participate in the application process. I'm also concerned because if I list that I live with my parents, I'm worried this will raise an eyebrow suggesting that I am not independent or responsible..I've lived on my own for several years before, and I also pay my dad a reasonable amount to stay here, but a forms a form with no room for explanation.

QUESTION

I have an idea of where I'd like to live, but obviously I can't go home viewing one day and randomly write an address down on this form. So, do i have to list my parents house? And if I do, what are the long term effects of this? Will I have to show some kind of proof of living location which will then require my parents to write an approval stating that my fiance and I can live in their house?

This question on the form is kind of confusing considering that a K1 visa can take over a year to be approved and single men with no kids etc aren't exactly tied down to any one location for a specified period of time. Can i just put somewhere in San Diego? lol

Thanks for the help,

Chris

You should put the address where you and your fiance(e) will live initially. My fiance just finished school and is still living at home until I start working, then we will get a place together. Once we get a place we will just update USCIS of our new address.

Listing your parents address will not make them obligated at all. You may just need to prove you pay rent there.

Also, living with your parents won't raise a red flag. As long as your income is over the poverty level for 2 people you will not need a co-sponsor so you have nothing to worry about in that regard.
