Manila Airport wife is going home for a visit ?

Bought my wife Carol tickets to go home for a visit. She will be arriving at 9:30 PM at terminal 1. Her flight out to General Santos City is at 7:00 AM the next morning. When I visited her 4 years ago, I had to wait outside the terminal after it closed

for my flight in the morning. There was a few guards/ airport employees outside the airport all night, along with some other passengers waiting for morning flights. I felt safe, but not sure if it will be safe for a woman waiting by herself.

Will it be safe for my wife traveling by herself to wait outside the airport terminal 1 for her morning flight?

Is there another terminal open all night?

What papers/documents will she need to bring to get there and get home? Green card/Philippine passport?

What is the cost for the airport tax?

Is there a cell phone she can buy to call me and I can call her while she is there for 3 weeks? Not sure if her Tracfone

will work in the Philippines?

Thanks you very much!

I am not sure if there is an open terminal. I think it is safe for women but it will be tiring for her. Better get her a hotel near the airport so she can rest before her flight the next day. God bless

My wife sleeps like a bear in hibernation. I set an alarm clock for her at full volume and after 30 minutes of the alarm going off,she was still sleeping

A hotel room for 7 hours sounds good to me, but I am afraid if she falls asleep, she will not

wake up in time to catch her flight

Aw! Same here..the alarms give up on me..lol! Well she can request for a wake up call from the Hotel. We did that when we had an early flight last time. Hope you figure out something for her soon. God bless!

I was reading if a visitor stays for more than 21 days they need an extension visa. My wife is staying for 22 days. She has a Philippine passport, but lives in the US and has a green card. Does she need to get a visa extension for staying 22 days? I am confused?

She is still a Philippine citizen, citizens don't need a visa to stay in their own country.

Even though she is a usa citizen, since she is filipino they arent going to care about a day overstay. i wouldnt worry about it. Once she gets where she needs to go, she can buy a cheap unlocked nokia for around 2k php or so and get a sim and use load etc

Terminal 1 is terrible... I think her flight to General Santos City will be either Terminal 2 (Philippine Airlines) or Terminal 3 (all other domestic airlines)... Its safe to wait at terminal 2 and 3... I have done this before and since your wife is from Mindanao... she is a toughie (i am from Davao City). She will also find lots of waiting passengers just like her... If you opt to get her a hotel, theres the manila airport hotel, just a stone throw away from terminal 1 (http://www.manila-airporthotel.com/), she does not have to take a taxi and deal with taxi drivers who haggle for excessive fare to go to a hotel... then she can arrange a wake up call and a transportation the next day with the hotel to the domestic airport (It will just cost her 50 pesos to get to the other terminal)

Filipinos and former filipinos does not need a visa to stay in the Philippines.

Buying a solid, unlocked quad-band phone off ebay or amazon for cheap, then buying an international Smart or Globe SIM card is another option, too. Then, when she comes back to US, family members can text her for cheap using chikka.com

I went home twice already since i came here in 2007. The first visit i had was 5 months and a half. No problem if she stays there as long as not over a year. She don't need to worry about her stay since she is a Phil. citizen.
