So I am looking at this link: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf and I think I am a tad confused about the numbers..

So my husband is in active duty for the U.S. military, so does he need to be making $14,710 in order for us not to neeed a co-sponsor, or $29,420?

Thanks!

If it's just you two, living outside Hawaii or Alaska ... then it's $14,710. Where did you get $29,420?

08/07/2007: Arrived on F1 visa

12/20/2010: Wedding

12/13/2011: I-130 and I-485 sent to Chicago Lockbox

12/14/2011: Packet received

12/17/2011: Checks cleared

12/19/2011: Hard copy of NOAs for I-130 and I-485 received

12/29/2011: Biometrics appointment received (01/25/2012)

01/04/2012: Transfer Notice (CSC) for both I-130 and I-485

01/09/2012: Touched

01/25/2012: Biometrics. Done!

03/29/2012: Touched

10/29/2012: Touched

11/10/2012: NOA-Interview letter for Dec 3rd 2012

12/3/2012: Interview at 9:00 AM. Received approval email at 5:45 PM.

It almost took 12 months (351 days) but I'm glad it's over.

I couldn't tell if $14,710 was the actual poverty line or if that was the min value needed. If it was the poverty line, then $29,420 would be 100% above the poverty line :)

I see what you did there :) 100% means 100/100 which is 1. So 100% of $14,710 is just $14,710.

125% is 125/100 which is 1.25. Now, 125% of $14,710 is 1.25 * $14,710 = $18,387.

At least I can take comfort knowing my simple multiplication skills are still intact :)

My confusion was whether he had to make 100% above the poverty line or not. $14,710 seems a little low to support two people.
