Greetings V.J. Members,

My wife was told at the interview her Visa was approved but she needs an NBI with clearance for her first married name. She had never used that name on any documents at all but they still want NBI clearance in that name.

They gave her a form telling 2Go not to charge her to return the document to the Embassy. She then went to NBI and was told that it would be the 24th unless she paid an expedite fee of 1500 peso. She will go today (jan 10th) to pay the expedite and get the NBI clearance with that name included.

After reading about similar situations I'm very upset. If what I'm reading is true then its likely going to be a few weeks before the U.S. Embassy looks at the newly submitted NBI clearance. And thats after paying or an expedite from NBI...

The Philippines government has left a sour taste in my mouth. First the Registrar refused to advance endorce our marraige contract costing us a month in time, a trip from Cebu to Mindanao to get a transmittal, Then from Mindanao to Manila to expedite the contract in September (we were married may 12th) with expedite fee of coarse. And now this...

I'm supporting my wife there, myself here, paying for all the normal Visa fees, and all these extra bribes and costs. I'm only a security guard making 8.00 an hour...#######

I get that you're a bit annoyed with the unexpected wait but look at the bright side... You guys got approved!

A lady from Embassy called my wife asking about Hong Kong Police clearance which we had ordered awhile back....We did not get a 221 G on that so maybe the lady was just inquiring. I hope and pray.

If you have used any other name in the past - it is always advisable to also have/get documents with that name and extra copies/originals. Should there be an AKA on any of the forms then they will ask for documents in that name. The same goes for police certificates and the likes.

Delays can be avoided if you have your documents ahead of time - be proactive and NOT reactive.

Well the NBI problem is solved, but they are still waiting on the Hong Kong Police clearance. We called the Hong Kong Police and they said they sent Dec 31st. This is the 12th of January....What a terrible process this whole visa application is. The paperwork is easier than filing your taxes, but dealing with two governments really bites.

They could streamline all of this and make life a lot easier. Heck the 3.5 months before the USCIS even looks at your petition is just wroung.

Holy Fack. You must be good with money. $8 an hour would not pay for my food bill. How the fack do you live off that? I just recently down graded in pay and am having a hard time. So any advice you have really would be appreciated.
