When filling in the addresses for the G-325A, how should the Russian addresses be formatted? Take the example Russian address:

655017 Россия, Республика Хакасия, г. Абакан, пр. Ленина, 67

It translates in Google Translate to:

655017 Russia, Khakassia, Abakan, Lenin Avenue, 67

Reformatting into American style would be:

67 Lenin Ave Abakan, Khakassia Russia 655017

Would this be correct? Please advise :)

You put in the street and number box: 67 Lenin Ave

You put the city box: Abakan

You put in province or state box the Republic name: Khakassia

You put in the Country box: Russia or Russian Federation

By the way when we filed the form, we used the country of birth listed in the passport. For my wife it was USSR. For my step daughter it was Russian Federation.

best of luck

Thank you both for the replies.

The part I'm looking at now is actually the part where it asks for the names and addresses of her past employers for 5 years. Unfortunately, there are no boxes to fill in.

Ah interesting. That's something I didn't even think of. Did anyone else do this? Will writing Russia be incorrect?

Yea, I think it's better. Unfortunately, many of the boxes in other parts of the form do not have adequate room to write "The Republic of Khakassia". In that case, what is suggested?

Just use "Khakassia"! Also, you don't need to say "Russian Federation", Just use "Russia". Everyone knows what you refer to. We did and had no problems at all.

I think you SHOULD put "Russian Federation"/"Russia". My GC and then my US passport spell "Ukraine" as a place of birth in spite of the fact that Ukraine did not exist as an independent state at the time of my birth. I think, there is a rule that all the geographic location are treated by the state it currently belongs to.

Ah! Enter it in the format you use for a USA address.

Russia is fine.

My wife's GC has her place of birth as USSR even though she was born in Kyrgyzstan.

Yes, it would be incorrect. My wife was born in USSR and our son was born in Russia. There is a big difference and you should be politically correct.

I put the address in "Standard American format" with "Russia" as the country (because that's what the country is now) and then on the "country of birth" block I put "USSR" because that's what country she was born in.

In truth, it doesn't really matter. They know Russia/USSR, House# 67 Kaliningrad Street/67 Kaliningrad, etc., are all the same. Just make sure all your numbers match up and you'll be golden.

I would be careful with putting "Avenue," since cities in Russia can have, say, "prospekt Lenina" and "ulitsa Lenina" or whatever. I don't translate in this case, just transliterate. "Prospect" makes sense in English anyway, and is used in translation for prospekt instead of avenue.

Thanks for pointing that out to me. I will make the corrections.
