How Much Notice For CR1 Interview

I'm in Calgary and I note that there are only three places to have the medical; Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal. It looks like I will do what many have done; arrange the medical in Montreal a few days before the interview. I'm wondering how much notice you get of the interview date so that flights, hotel, medical can be arranged.

eta: not that I think this makes any difference - it is the IR1 and CR1 that we are applying for.

I think I missed this in my reading....are those really the only places to go for medicals? For the K1 we went to Saskatoon. That will be a huge burden if I have to take me and 4 kids that far.

Yep, used to be more places to get ur medical done (NS, Alberta, Sk, etc etc) not no longer, sorry Times have chyanged and they now mail out ur visa to u, via DHL

Once upon a time you could get your medical in just about every province, and have the interview at most US embassies. No more.

You'll have a few months notice when your appointment is. We're scheduling a week in Montreal for Hubby's medical and interview. We never had a honeymoon, so I guess that will be it lol!

Wow that sucks. Ok so another expense to fly 5 of us instead of 1 to Montreal. Ugh! I wonder why they make it so tough! Then again that doctor we saw in Saskatoon kind of made me shudder lol

You want the whole process to move quickly, except this part when it would be nice to get plenty of notice to arrange flights etc.

We were just given 4 1/2 weeks notice last week for the early February and booked an air ticket to Montreal for a fairly low price. Certainly much lower than the ticket prices were over December holidays

I think you'll get an interview date 4-5 weeks ahead which should give you enough time to book the air ticket enough in advance that you'll get the best price possible (assuming you like playing the air ticket stock market as well).

We were notified on December 1st from the NVC that our interview in Montreal was January 12th. (Tomorrow, yay!) Enough time to get everything booked. The medical clinic in Vancouver only sees people on Wednesdays so make sure you double check before booking your flights if the Montreal clinic is open on the day you're wanting.

Good luck for the interview. That's useful information re medical. I would plan on making medical appt. first then book flights. Hubby and I plan to make a vacation out of the trip.

I know you don't live where I do but for interest I looked at the difference at the cost between flying, train and Greyhound. Train was $300 more expensive than flying and Greyhound $300 less than flying. (Well there's always driving but that's not really a feasible option.)

Any Mega bus options (they're rodiculously cheap)? I can't remember if they operate in Canada as well.
