I-134 supporting documents

I am currently getting things together for my I-134 and was wondering what i need and my mother needs since she is co sponsoring. She has w-2's for the past three years we just didn't know if the IRS tax returns are needed as well and how we would go about doing that since my parents file jointly and their income is combined on the IRS tax form. Any help is really appreciated as i am at a loss when it comes to anything money or tax related.

When my mother in law filled out the I-134 she included a copy of her tax return (even though her and her husband file jointly, it still had her individual income on it aswell) also, some of her recent pay stubs and a letter from her employer.

I do not know for sure about Canada, but you typically do need the letter from the employer to state your position and salary, though I believe some people have only provided a few months worth of their recent pay stubs and been ok. People that went through the same consulate as you will be going through would be better to answer that particular question.

You need more than just the 1040. You would need complete copies of the tax returns including any schedules and attachments plus the W-2s. If you get the tax transcripts from the IRS, then you do not need to worry about making copies of every page. They are complete by themselves and they are free.

Does any know what kind of documents that the embassy in Montreal likes to see showing proof of financial well being for a K-1 visa. My mother is co-sponsoring me and has her IRS 1040's for three years back and also W2's. Should that be enough?

Having a letter from her employer stating her wage and how long she's worked for them.

Taking a copy of her most recent bank statement won't hurt either.

Also remember to take proof of her U.S. Citizenship! Birth Certificate or copy of her passport bio page!

I just moved back and do not currently have a job.

Yes, you each fill out your own form, even if you are currently earning nothing. Yes, that is all you need.

Is it ok if my mother only has a letter from her employer, passport bio page and three years of transcripts? I do not have recent paystubs for her

That's fine, they pay check stubs are optional, but most people take them anyway.

If she gets her income from retirement, Social Security, or Veteran's Administration she will have statements or 'award letters' that show where the income is derived from. It would be a good idea to have copies of those.
