Should petitioner be at interview in Nicaragua?

I know, I know...people ask this all the time...but what im looking for here is more of 'opinions and advice' from people who have actually been through the interview in a LA country...

Yes, i've checked the embassy's website and from what I could see it didn't suggest the Petitioner be there like how it did on the Dominican Republic's site...

I recently read a review of an interview in Managua, and she made it sound like she was very thankful that she went...thinking they may not have been approved had she not been there. Before I read this, I was pretty content in the fact that I would not be able to make it to the interview and had no worries about not being approved...now I feel a little worried :unsure:

And yes, I also know all the benefits and that it would be great and lovely if I could make it to the interview, but since I am spending two weeks there in Feb I just don't know that I will be able to manage another trip within just a few months...

Once again, all LA interview experiences (especially from Managua) would be much appreciated! :):help:

December 2006 - third trip - went for his visa interview (stood outside all day)

visa approved! arrived here together right before Christmas 2006

married January 2007

AOS paperwork sent February 2007

RFE (yipee)

another RFE (yikes)

AOS approval July 2007

sent Removal of Conditions paperwork 01 May 2009

received I-751 NOA 14 May 2009

received ASC appt. notice 28 May 2009

biometrics appt. 12 June 2009

I-751 approval date 25 Sept 2009 (no updates on the system - still says 'received'/"initial review")

19 Oct 2009 - got text message "card production ordered"

24 Oct 2009 - actual card in the mail box!

sent his N-400 - 14 May 2010

check cashed 27 May 2010

NOA received 29 May 2010 (dated 24 May)

Biometrics Appointment Letter received 17 June 2010

Biometrics scheduled for 08 July 2010; walk-in successfully done in Philadelphia 07 July 2010

02 Oct 2010 - FINALLY got email saying the case was being transferred to the local office. Hoping to get his interview letter soon...

05 Oct 2010 - received interview letter!!!!

08 November 2010 - scheduled for N-400 interview

- went together for interview; file isn't there - need to wait to be rescheduled

Jan 2011 - went for Infopass

25 Feb 2011 - interview

19 April 2011 - Infopass

8 July 2011 - HE'S FINALLY A CITIZEN - WOO HOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

30 July 2011 - citizenship party

Go atop any VJ page, and click "embassy info" and "reviews: embassy" to get the lowdown on your consulate. Pay special attention to the very worst stories.

Ecuador is like the Dominican Republic in that the petitioner is expected to be there, except the Guayaquil consulate will never admit it. Failure to be there is nearly an automatic 221g or outright refusal.

I urge you to change your life's plans so that you are on the premises in Managua during the FIRST interview, si man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

There aren't too many Nicaragua applicants, so reading the reviews for the embassy is your best bet. You can find my review there and IMO it's better to be safe than sorry. It's important to note that Nicaragua isn't like Ecuador, like T-Bone explains that the absence of the USC is pretty much an automatic denial, but it certainly helps to be there. Our interviewer was very nice and she asked us both questions during the interview. It certainly made me feel better to have my husband with me the entire time. I would reconsider changing the date of your upcoming trip and push it for the interview, since you're expecting it to be soon. Good luck.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

I passed on planning a trip to Honduras for Christmas, since we were getting so close to finding out the interview date. I'm not taking any chances, my husband talked to a friend in our situation not too long ago, he went to his interview solo, got approved but said he would've preferred his wife attended. I know he will be more comfortable and be able to answer queations easier if I am there (he gets so nervous sometimes!). All of the reviews from Tegucigalpa are (almost) all written by folks who went to the interview together. Also, Im hoping he will be able to fly by the time I leave so I can accompany him on the plane, through customs, etc...
