This is from the IRS Website:

Copies of Prior Year Federal Tax Returns and/or a Transcript

Most taxpayers will ask for a copy of their prior year tax return. In many cases, however, a transcript will provide the information they need more quickly. Transcripts provide taxpayers with a computer-created record of their tax return which includes most of the line-items as filed with the IRS, including any accompanying forms and schedules. The transcript does not reflect any changes the taxpayer, his/her representative, or the IRS made after the return was filed.

Can somebody please tell me which is the correct and/or preferred option to send in with the I-134? Will they want to see the entire Return or just the Transcript?

Thanks,

J

Either is acceptable. Only advantage to the IRS transcript is that you do not have to provide W-2's with them. The Consulate will accept either.

Agreed, transcripts are easy to get and send. Returns need the W-2 attached. Call the IRS toll free, navigate the prompts and order the transcripts........and they are free.

Tax Transcripts are the "official" proof from the IRS. Since they are free I don't see why anyone would not provide the same.

I provided returns for the last 3 years instead of transcripts because I already had copi es of the returns in my files. I saw no reason to request transcripts from the IRS since I had what was required.
