SSN Change needed during AOS/Lifting Conditions?

Hopefully a quick question...its been a blissful nearly two years since I've looked at any of this immigration status things and now that we are due for lifting conditions I'm a wreck!

My question actually pertains to getting an SSN number...we received my wifes SSN after she had arrived on a K-1 visa but this was stamped with DHS authorization needed for work; which to my understanding is granted automatically upon receiving the Green Card. Is this something I just need to call the SSN ofice near me about to have an updated card sent?

You don't have to change it, all that's needed when applying for jobs and such is the number, not the actual card. It just says if there are any changes then you should update the information with SSA (http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10002.html - the 7th question down). Your wife needs to show proof of her changed immigration status. I'm fairly sure it has to be done at the SSA but you can try to call them and inquire about it. Just type in your zip-code here: https://secure.ssa.gov/apps6z/FOLO/fo001.jsp

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

I went into the SS office yesterday to change my SSN to my married name. They told me when I went in before that I had to wait until after the green card arrived. So that is what I did. So my new card will come in my married name and also with out the DHS authorization printed on it. She told me to shred the one with DHS authorization on it when the new card arrived.

I had to show proof of green card. I also had my drivers license in my married name, my EAD/AP card and my marriage license. The only thing she took a copy of was the green card.

Sent AOS pack......2011-08-08

NOA's dated ..........2011-08-15

Biometrics..............2011-09-13

EAD card.................2011-10-26

AP card....................2011-10-26

AOS approved .......2011-12-19

Green card rec.......2011-12-27

Appreciate the feedback! From a legal standpoint everyone sounds like it is in order, but interestingly enough when my wife went to apply for a credit card, she was told that since her SSN card was stamped with "Work authorization needs DHS approval, etc" she was not eligible. I understand it takes a while to build credit but it sounds like they declined this for other reasons...sound legit? Suspect we'll just go to the nearest SSN office and have a new card issued but thought I'd check anyway.

One thing I should clarify I suppose, which upon further reading I may be confusing myself on....Should I have received a physical EAD when I filed my I-485 and I-765? I received an NOA for both and consequently had the biometrics/interview/green card approved and just assumed this was all part of the same.
