We got married in 2010 January & my wife entered U.S.A on August 31 2010 with CR1 Visa. Her Green Card says:

Residence Since: 08-31-2010

Expiration Date: 08-31-2012

My question is when should I apply for her Citizenship & what is the process?

Thanks.

She can file her naturalization paperwork 90 days before her 3-year anniversary as a permanent resident, so 90 days before 08/31/2013.

You can start reading more about the process from the US Citizenship forum here on VJ:http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/114-us-citizenship-general-discussion/

and of course from USCIS.gov.

yup yup -

90 days prior to 3 years past 08-31-2010

ain't math fun?

But - Is a requirement that the permanent resident still be 'in status' so plan on filing for a 10 year card, 90 days prior to 2 years past 08-31-2010. Oh Wait - more math !!!

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

You, my friend, cannot apply for another person's citizenship at all, ever.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

You're getting ahead of yourself.

She first needs to file for ROC (Removal of Conditions) 90 days before the card expiration date THEN she can apply for citizenship 90 days before she's been an LPR for 3 years (so 90 days before 08-31-2013) if you're still married. If you are no longer married she needs to wait until she's been an LPR for 5 years (minus 90 days) so it would be 90 days before 08-31-2015.

she first has to remove conditions,if her permanent resident card expires 8/31/12 she can file the 1-751 after june 3 1012, 90 days minus expire date on the GC.some time your sent a reminder letter,if your both living togather at the same resident for three years then you can also apply for your citizenship 90 days minus 8/31/31.
