Hello All,

I am curious about what others have experienced with the US embassy in Manilla. We have gone through all the hurdles and have received the MNL case# from the NVC. It is about four weeks since we received the letter from NVC. When should my fiancee receive the letter from the embassy regarding the interview.

Thanks in advance for your response.

I hope you're not waiting for that letter from USEM, you might get it well after your interview.

It is your fiancee that will setup her interview.

It's been 4 weeks since you received your hard copy of the NOA2? You're burning daylight buddy.

1. Have your fiancee take her passport and pay the visa fee at BPI, make sure she gets and keeps the receipt of the transaction. Then she can set up her interview (online) after the fee has been paid, give it a few hours.

2. Have you register online for the medical at St Lukes?

3. Proceed to get the medical done.

I was under the impression that the letter was sent after the embassy reviewed your docs and that it was requirement for the interview. So you are saying that once a MNL # is assigned that your case was reviewed by the embassy? Is this what you experienced?

Also she has not taken the CFO requirement. Do you have a link for this too? Thanks again.

I looked at the link you sent for St Luke Medical

http://www.slec.ph/us-visa-applicants.shtml#required-docs

It says that you need an appointment letter from the embassy or instruction letter from NVC. The instruction letter I received from NVC said that the paperwork was going to embassy without any additional information.

Also she has not taken the CFO requirement. Do you have a link for this too? Thanks again.

Your MNL# is assigned by NVC, long before your case is transfered to Manila, so NO, it does not mean your case has been reviewed by USEM.

I assume that you're talking about the eligibility letter from USEM, do not wait for that letter... you may never even get until sometime in the future.

Once your fiancee sets up her interview online at the USEM webiste, she will print out the appointment confirmation letter. That is the letter she'll need.

Please click this instruction find the the Manila US embassy website: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/19452/public/Revised%20K1%20Instruction%20Packet%20_3__rtf2_003.pdf

The only thing that is not in the packet is the CFO seminar which deals with a different agency.

No need to wait for Manila US embassy letter. Start the interview process NOW! Goodluck!

Ditto to all that has been stated by other VJ members. Here is what we did:

This is what we did a little over 3 months ago and is solely based on our experience.

Your fiance should already be gathering her Birth Certificate, NBI Clearance, CENOMAR, Police Clearance if she worked overseas for more than 6 months from the country where she worked, Annulment (if applicable), DS Forms 156, 156K, 157.

You as the petitioner should prepare I-134, employee letter, pay stubs, and tax transcripts for 3 years (you can order tax transcripts from IRS website for free), evidence of ongoing bonafide relationship, money remittance, and anything else that proves a genuine relationship, and then send it all to your fiance as she will need these things for the interview @ USEM.

You can pay the visa fee through BPI it is $350.00 but will pay in peso based on the exchange rate that day. Be sure to have your passport when paying for the visa fee and keep the receipt. Wait til the next day and schedule your interview online. You do not have to wait for the eligibility letter from the USEM. Otherwise, you will be waiting for awhile. When you are scheduling online, you'll need manila case #, passport info, and the receipt # from BPI. Give enough time in between interview date and when she plans on getting her medical done when scheduling. There is no need to schedule an appointment for medical since it is walk in. You can register through the SLMEC and fill up the registration online and this will save you an hour and a half. if you don't fill it up, they will make you fill it up on the spot @ the clinic.

A CFO sticker is needed to be affixed to your fiance's passport. If you do not have this, they will not let her board the plane. This can be done in advance and once you have the visa in hand, you can go back to the CFO office in Quirino Avenue and obtain it. Or, you can wait until visa in hand and then attend the CFO seminar and get the certificate the same day.
