For those of you that have moved to US, those of you that are ready to go, and those of you that are itching to go...

How long did you / are you, waiting from Visa in hand to POE? LOL

As soon as i have my visa in my hot little hands i will be booking a flight and telling Glenn when to pick me up in NY... I will be nothing but a white flash leaving here. All I will need to do is ship a couple of boxes the same day and that will be it. Already arranged for people to take my furniture.

Can't wait. Thoughts of running into my Baby's arms in the airport help me to fall asleep with happy thoughts.

Alla arrived a month later. She had business obligations with her job and did not give notice of leaving until the visa was in her hand, then had to meet the committments she made. We did not make any plans or buy any plane tickets until the visa was in her hand.

My husband came a month after getting his visa. He had things to take care of and finalize there before coming here permanently. We chose a date (personal to us) and bought his ticket not long after he had the visa in his possession.

I was teaching in Canada, so I had a contract and had to finish out the school year (at least if I wanted to avoid seriously honking off the principal, who's a nice guy and didn't deserve that anyways). My visa was issued April 30, but I didn't PoE until July 12.

After I received my Visa, I got offered a temporary job back home in Canada. So I fulfilled that contract and waited 4 months to cross the border.

It was a hard decision to wait that long, but the money I made working that job has been a life saver for us once I moved, so I don't regret a thing. :)

It took the wife about 2 months to go thru the process of getting permission to leave her country. Once that process was completed--it felt like another k-1 visa application--we made travel plans and she arrived after having the visa for 3 months.

Should be a couple more days until I actually receive my visa, but I won't be leaving until at least March.

I want Stephan to come pick me up so we can enter the US together, and in plane tickets alone it will be around $1500. Money's the only thing stopping me from going the next day though :P

Currently.... they have issued Ice the incorrect GC and we have tried 4 times to fix it. First time they had us send it to the incorrect address. Second time they said we used an expired form, which was the form they gave us. Third time was "oh sorry we lost the last page, can you send it again?." Fourth time is the gov is shut down. Will this ever be corrected in time for Ice to get the permanent GC? Stay tuned to find out. T_T
