We received the instructions for package 3 and 4 a couple of days ago. So far, we've been running down the list and gathering the documentation that need a certain time to get prepared, ask questions about specific requirements, etc BEFORE scheduling our interview. I thought it would be best to get those out of the way and prepare the rest of our folder while we waited for the interview.

It made me wonder, is there a specific time limit between getting the local case number and the scheduling of the interview at the Embassy?

Thank you so much for your replies.

Well, the NOA2 has an expiration date on it but when it hits the embassy they usually extend it if yoy're waiting for an interview. One thing you can do is call/email the embassy and ask how far out in the future it's possible to set up an interview appointment so it leaves you time to gather the needed documents. On VJ, the average time from leaving NVC until interview appointment is 58 for the last 6 months in Columbia.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days
