Hey VJers! So I got my approval today...trying to get a flight from London to the US before Christmas but right now, it's not looking too hopeful.

Do any UK people have a good website I could use for cheap tickets? I know its Christmas time and they are gunna be expensive but 900 or 1000 dollars is defo pushing it!

May 28 2013 - EAD Approved
May 31 2013 - Card production ordered.

June 3 2013 - Card Mailed, expected delivery date June 5.

September 25th 2013 - Became an official resident!!

October 5th 2013 - Green Card Received.

August 24 2015 - I-751 for Removal of conditions received by California Service Center.

August 24 2015 - NOA Receipt Date.

September 24 2015 - Biometrics.

One other thing to consider is that the flights are FULL so any weather disruptions can cause major delays. When BA was late leaving Denver, I ended up going thru Moscow at 2300 that night rather than 1300 with a direct flight. I was 19 hours later than planned. On the return leg I was two days later than planned. So make sure your schedule is flexible or wait until after Xmas when things settle down. I wish I could fly and ONLY pay $900-$1000 to visit the MIL. Is that for a one-way or RT? Usually a RT is cheaper. You just do not use the return leg and cancel it with the airline.

We got ours from http://www.lastminute.com

As Dave & Roza had suggested-- just keep in mind that there are adverse weather conditions during this time of year. We chose to purchase flight insurance for our trip home in February.

I always use kayak.com, but usually then book right through the airlines site. Round trip is a lot cheaper. Also if your a late night person, or keen on saving the best time to book flights is 1 am (EST) Wednesday morning/Tuesday night. That's when all the airlines computers reset prices. Also flying on a Tuesday - Thursday is cheapest as well.

I would use Momondo.com first, they're pretty accurate with the price ranges. Also, try flying from and to central hubs (eg. rather than flying from Luton to San Diego, try LHR to Los Angeles) as this can decrease the price by hundreds of pounds.

After Momondo, try ASDA travel - twice now they've beaten all other quoted prices for me. This time I saved £2! :P

You may not find this ideal but when I flew to Scotland for xmas I went on xmas eve on the last flight out of boston and arrived early xmas day. The airports were nearly empty and it was a bit cheaper. I used KLM.
