Lagosians!!! How long before interview?

Hello all,

NVC closed my case on december 7th and I am just looking to find out:

1. how long it takes them to schedule the appointment

2. who schedules the interview; NVC or Lagos consulate?

2a.. If NVC, will they automatically send me an email with the info or I am required to call to find out?

3.Can my mom go for her medical wihout a letter of appointment for interview?

GOD has been WONDERFUL!!!
CR-1 (for Husband):
09/15/2012: Got Married
09/26/2012: Mailed I-130 from Nigeria( delayed by customs)
USCIS stage ( 66 days)
10/12/2012: NOA 1
12/17/2012: NOA 2 (case was transferred to NYC office 11/27/12)
NVC stage ( 20 days)
01/08/2013: Case # and IIN assigned ( file arrived NVC mail room 12/20/12)
01/09/2013: AOS invoiced and paid, DS-3032 emailed and mailed.
01/16/2013: IV invoiced &paid. AOS & IV mailed in one package(arrived 01/18).
01/28/2013: Case complete!!!
04/19/2013: Interview; APPROVED!!!!!
05/13/2013: POE; JFK

N-400: (3 months and 12 days)
Filed N-400 : 2011-06-17
Interview: 2011-09-27
Oath Ceremony: 2011-09-30

IR-5 for Mom Entire process took 5 months exactly
USCIS (22days)
mailed I-130 : 2011-09-30
NOA 1: 2011-10-03 (text & email)
NOA 2: 2011-10-25 (text and email)
NVC: (19 days)
Case entered and # assigned: 2011-11-18
NVC Case COMPLETED: 2011-12-07 ( 43 days from NOA 2 and 65 days from NOA 1)
Interview Date(Lagos): 2012-01- 23 Mom was late for interview
New Interview date: 2012-02-29 : VISA APPROVED

Hello, Interviews are scheduled within the 1st & 2nd week of every month.

Lagos consulate shedules the interview.

You will definately receive an e-mail when your interview is scheduled but check you spam folder too bcos my interview date was sent on 3rd of last month and i found it in my spam folder on 6th.

If you do not recieve an interview date by 14th of this month, you should expect an interview date in btw d first & second week in january.

When i went for my medical exam at kamorass i was not asked for my interview letter she can have it done but i will advice you get an interview date before she goes for medical.

She needs the letter stating the interview date, just in case they do ask. After NVC closes your case with them the consulate in naija is responsible for scheduling the interview. Good luck to you amdn your mom.

Thanks !!! The thing is for this category of visa (and when I did my I-140 5years ago) NVC requires police certificate(original) as part of the DS-230 package to be submitted to them and we got that already. I am just hoping we get a date before it expires in 1st week in Feb.

We never received a date without emailing them; maybe if you haven't found out by the middle of this month you can email the consulate and ask for your date.

i also emailed and got my date and package via email

Nov 9th 2010 Petition received at California Service Center

May 4th 2011 Received petition Approval letter

May 12th 2011 Received Letter from NVC stating info has been forwarded to Lagos consulate office

July 14th 2011 Received Fiancé Visa packet and interview date (via email)

Sept 20th 2011 Interview day! Visa not approved.. Requesting more proof :-(

Sept 28th 2011 Second interview scheduled for early December :-)

Dec 5th 2011 Interview rescheduled consulate office caught fire :-(

Dec 6th 2011 Visa APPROVED!!!! :-D
