better if fiancee attends the interview???

I have read both good and bad about the fiancee attending the interview. What are your feelings towards that???

More pros than cons. USC gets to share the experience with the fiance/s; it's a big boost of confidence for the fiance/e to be interviewed. Most COs are ok with it. The bad thing is if on a particularly unlucky day, they don't allow interviewees' companion/s inside (because of overcrowding etc), then USC has to wait for average 2 hours til the whole process is finished (no communication til then).

Unnecessary except from the fact that the applicant gets moral support.

I was there back in August and it was worth it for me. The CO views the petitioner being there an absolute +. It was more like a conversation as opposed

to an interview. It also was fun experiencing it with Patty and she was less stressed. Having said that, it is not necessary to be there as long as your fiance(e)

has all the required documents. Good luck!

I plan to go back for her interview and fly home with her. This will be her first time on a plane so I think very hard flying such long international flight your first time alone.

OP,

I'm glad I went back in 07. My wife had a hard time understanding the CO and I had to explain what the woman was asking a couple times during the interview. It was a great experience for us to go through together and we flew back to the US on the same flight luckily. Most people don't purchase tickets ahead of time but I'm a bit of a gambler and that time it paid off.

That is a great idea to share her first experience of flying. Notice her facial expressions as the plane accelerates down the runway.

I read somewhere that the petionier was not allowed in the interview. So the person making the decision was not even aware that he was in the building. I would like that person that I traveled 1/2 way across the world to be there and to answer any extra questions they may have

Everything I have read has been beneficial and positive about the petitioner being there for the interview. I read that the beneficiary has to go into the embassy before the petitioner, and I saw one comment, from some time ago, that the CO asked the petitioner to remain quiet, but I have never heard they were not allowed at the interview -- at least in Manila, other countries vary.

If you have some information about negative consequences of the petitioner being present, please share. Thank you.

Please note, From what I was told at the Embassy when I was there. NO US Citizen is turned away as long as they have a valid passport with them to prove citizenship.

Yu will be allowed to accompany throughout the interview. However, there will be times when you are to keep quiet and let the beneficiary answer. You must let your fiancee answer as much as possible. You WILL be sworn in during the interview with the CO and asked questions.

The PRIMARY benefit of being there. IS YOU AFFIRM YOUR DOCUMENTS TO THE CO in PERSON. This is like going to court and telling the Judge you affirm your documents. This is huge. All that is left is for your fiancee to pass the interview. You being there shows support and help. It depends on how real your relationship is. How much your fiancee knows you and how much you have shared with your fiancee.

the other benefit is Filipinos do not use the same system as Americans. In the embassy, it is hard for he Filipinos. The American system works for americans, but the filipinos are confused. Being there helps them through this system.
