woohoo! 11/29 at 7:50pm my little daughter was born in Moscow. 7 lbs, 3 oz (3.2kg) and 20 inches (51cm). I'm a first time father and I'm very happy about it!!!

Anyway, now we have to figure out this dual citizenship thing. I'm going there next month (Dec. 20th) to get this foreign registration of birth thing and probably a passport as well.

Just thought I'd share the good news. If anyone has done the foreign registration of birth in russia, I'd be glad to listen to any advice you can give!

thanks!

Congratulations, sounds like you are on the right track. You need to file the CRBA and apply for a passport for her.

Hopefully you will begin your daughters bi-lingual education immediately. A good way is for you always to speak English to her and for your wife to speak Russian, she will learn both. It is a wonderful gift to have.

Enjoy!

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I've done the dual citizenship thing but my son was born in the US so I was doing the whole thing in reverse of what you'll be doing. I posted a thread about it and could dig it up if you want but it's a different process so it probably won't help you much.

Congratulations.
