I was going to say, the only word I have ever heard for a hanger is veshalka, which comes from the verb veshat ("to hang") and so quite literally is a hanger (or hangee).

I told you guys I would get to you, I figured ONA to jump me for that first. Bad enough they have 6 cases, now they have all these regional dialects, then again, Ukraine IS in the "south" so they probaly add "y'all" at the end of each sentence.

I know what you're talking about "тремпель" is the word they use in Donetsk and Kharkov. I know a lot of Ukrainian slang words and they are actually widely used in my city too, because the region I'm from borders Ukraine.

Kira knows most American swear words, I blame myself for that. Lower mentality on my part and too many drunk convo's...mainly on google talk before she got here. When I ask her how to say something...like the Russian equivalent to one of our swear words she just tells me to google it. She refuses to teach me any. Apparently it's ok for her to swear in two languages but not me.

I used to have a big Russian-English dictionary of swear words on my computer back in Russia. I even learned some Russian words I hadn't known before

My husband was so proud when I taught him how to say "b*tch" in Russian - he was telling everybody: "I know how to say "b*tch" in 3 languages!" (English, Spanish, Russian). I don't usually teach him that stuff... Also my friends taught him a bunch of Russian swear words

When my wife arrived, I taught her all the anatomical parts using the "zesty" words. When she was doing a computer English tutorial on the anatomy...she typed in the naughty words, not the clinical ones. She couldn't figure out what she was doing wrong. I must say I did enjoy hearing her reference her body parts in the colorful way...not breasts and buttocks but T&A. Oh yeah...

Russian "not" is HE (nye) when compared to our "no" and "not" it is a wash.

But I agree that most Russian words seem to use the entire cyrillic alphabet but just in a different order of letters

It's hard to translate directly because Russian swearing is more complicated. You can't just translate "f#>k" directly--I mean, there is a verb "to eff," but you would also use different words for certain situations where we just use the F word.

I purchased the paperback "Dermo" before visiting Lena the very first time. It cracked her up as well as her son (25). He asked me to leave it for his reading enjoyment and probably to share with his friends. I highly recommend it
