Hey everyone!

Preparing documents for the interview right now but kind of hit a road block and a big panic situation as we can not find my fiancee's tax returns from 2009-2010.. We have 2008 but not the past 2 years!

Is there a way we can get them fast? Please any info on this would be a great help

Just call the IRS hotline at 1-800-908-9946 (or online at http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=232168,00.html) and order your transcripts for the missing years. Takes a few days by mail, online may be quicker.

Depends on if you did your return yourself or had preparer do it for you...

1) If you did it yourself and really can't find the return, then:

A) You should have extra copy of your W-2 you received from your employer. There are always extra copies with the W-2's you receive. So go online, download the 1040 form and the instructions and tax tables from IRS.Gov and re-fill out the forms using the same numbers you used to file your taxes the first time.

B) If you have no extra W-2, then contact the IRS and they will send you transcripts for the years you request - but it can take about 2 weeks.

2) If you had a preparer (IE:H&R Block) do your taxes, contact them and thy will provide you with a copy for a nominal charge...

W2 is garbage without the tax return.

Get the IRS transcripts.

If she has her W-2's then go online to IRS.Gov and she can download the tax forms she needs for the years she lost.

As long as she fills in the forms properly she is doing nothing wrong and the Consulate will accept the tax returns without any problem.

Or - she can get transcripts from IRS for the year(s) needed. It just will take a couple fo weeks to come in the mail.

Once again I'd like to thank everyone SOSO much for the fast replies, it really means alot to us to have a community like VJ around us :) My fiancee is currently on the phone and is ordering the transcripts free of charge.. This seems to be the best option as we dont have a fax machine. If someone could just clarify for us this is ok? And will the transcripts be acceptable scanned over to me? As there isnt going to be time for me to recieve them via mail.

Thankyou!!!!!!

Do you have the I-134 with ORIGINAL signature? Do you have her recent pay stubs? Do you have her letter of employment?

I have the I-134 Orignals with signatures on... I have recent pay stubs (scanned) and we do not have a letter of employer as her manager said everything goes through corproate which means they have to contact a number to find out such information.

Transcripts are 100% acceptable, I used nothing but transcripts on all of our K1/AOS and now removal of conditions. Copies are also ok so I see no issues with scanned then printed transcripts.

Faster still, go to the local IRS office (find the address online) your fiancee will have to present valid ID and they will print out the transcript while you wait. They usually only work regular business hours so it might not be an option if your fiance can't take time off work - or if the office is too far but it took my husband all of 10 minutes. Good luck!

You're fine with scanned copies of the tax transcripts because there are no signatures on them. They are official records from the IRS that show your fiance's gross income and her taxable income after deductions. You will have no problems with her scanning them and emailing them to you.

Best of luck on your upcoming interview!
