I like that you can shop for them in the teen clothing area without getting arrested.

My gawd! I'm 5ft, wears size 5 shoes, waistline 25. I need to pick my design now, Angry birds, Happy Feet or Dora the Explorer?

Happy New Year!

Do what we did: Buy a sewing machine. Wife is 4-10, and has curves. Everything needs to be shortened and re-hemmed. So it is a hunt through women's for petite sizes, junior misses' that are a little more generous, and even the boys' for work shirts.

I agree. Our sewing machine saved me $$$ from having them altered. If you can do it manually then that's fine. But some materials are hard.

I'm 4 feet 11.5 inches (and with shoes I'm 5 feet or more so I just round up, but I still get teased by my hubby for the extra half inch), wears an american size 4.5 shoes and a waistline of 25-28. I have a lot of experience having a lot of trouble shopping for my size here. Most stores don't even carry women's shoes under size seven. I'd often end up on the girls and boys sections, and it's tough trying to buy something that doesn't have room for hips or boobs.

For my wedding shoes, I spent almost two months going around all the stores (small and big) for something white to fit me. In the end, I found an old dusty one (and with a little scratch too), and I had to buy it because it was the closest thing to a good one that I could get. It was only $7, because it was a display, old, dusty and with a small scratch.

Most of what I'm wearing now are still my clothes that I shopped in the Philippines exactly a year ago. I regret not trusting my instinct of shopping for more and paying the extra $200 for an extra box of luggage in the plane. Now, I had to ask my sister to send me more toe-socks, mittens and thermal underwear from home and pay Fed-Ex five thousand pesos to send it here. I'm also have almost given up shopping here, and I'll just wait until we go home to the Phils next year for our big wedding, and then I could go shopping there even if I have to pay for two extra boxes in the plane. (So girls, learn from my experience and spend those extra dollars on shopping there and extra luggage fees).

And no, even if my grandparents were both professional tailors and my Dad and Uncle knew how to sew anything, I don't have any talent nor the skill for even the simplest of repairs. My gradeschool and highschool T.H.E. projects on sewing and knitting looks like they were done by someone with toes instead of fingers. I'm also super clumsy, so I stay away from sharp things as much as possible. I was just billed over $2K three months ago by the hospital who had to stitch the side of my palm when I accidentally sliced it deeply with a small knife. :-(

I don't think you can fin toe socks, mittens and thermos in the Philippines. It doesn't get called that much there unless you go to Baguio. When I arrived here in 2007, I got a care package from my friend in Texas. She sent me those slipper socks, mittens, beanies and bunch of sweaters and long johns. Walmart sells them for a cheaper price. No use shopping in the Philippines for these stuff. It's gonna cost you more if you can find them there.

Hokey Smoke!

Rocky: "Baby, are they still mad at us on VJ?"
