Got the GC in the mail today!

And there is a problem -- my "middle name" on the green card is my "maiden name".

For example:

If my name was Jane Ann Doe before I got married, and after I got married I am Jane Ann Smith

On my conditional green card, my name was "Jane Ann Smith"

On the 10 year GC, it is "Jane Doe Smith"

So I spent 20 minutes on the phone with USCIS because I wanted to know if this will be a problem. The lady on the phone had me explain the situation at least 10 times... but she went out of her way to find out the answer, and she said it is not a problem.

So WOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

So.. while I'm prepared to duck at the things being tossed at me by those of you waiting longer...

Somehow, my 10yr Green Card was ordered today.

Congrats!

Finally married... and still married... ;)

Green card received: March 18, 2011

Removal of Conditions:

GC Expiration: March 11, 2012

You can ask them to redo the card correctly. While the call center person on the phone may not think it is a problem, you need to have your green card agree with your identification. So, if you do not use your maiden name as your middle name and it isn't identified elsewhere, then I would suggest you have them correct it. You would file the I-90 and there would be no fee since it is their error. Take a photocopy of the card because you will need to send it back with the application. In the meantime, you can make an infopass appointment to have an I-551 stamp placed in your passport to show you are indeed a permanent resident.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

My maiden name is on my current passport, but not on my SSN card (it is on the SSN that is under my maiden name) and my driver's license. I think I will take your advice and do this.

Should I make the info pass appointment first? Or send the card back and do it after? What would you suggest?

Greets....hope all is well. It is that time lol. I submitted in May, did the biometrics in June and now we wait. Re marriage support...the usual, pictures, vacation, home titles, insurance, anything showing beneficiary information that includes you and your husband, joint bank account information, utilities....and of course all the other required documenation separate and apart from the marriage supporting documents. Mine was a larger package but that's how I roll.

I just noticed on the my case status on USCIS that there was action on my case on 9/26/202. Prior to that I had action around the biometrics in June....mind you, I got a text message re the last update but not for the 9//26th...oh well.

Hope you are well !

Congrats Igg! You too, Darkchilde.

Wow, VSC is murder, isn't it?

Apparently, naturalization is much quicker.

I'm reading that people are applying for naturalization and getting it before the green card! just wow. imo give them back the money from the ROC...yeah i know..not gonna happen. but dang...

At least i got my bio letter finally. although i'm worried..i read some poeple got RFE for only sending the first page of their joint bank accounts..which is what i did..although i sent a few all with diff address's on em. they are like 6 pages each which is long. i didn't wanna add more pages to the 99 i already sent! lol.

Really? That's dumb. Apparently they want to sort through a few hundred pages! I just sent the first page and it worked out for us, so hopefully you'll be as lucky.

I have been thinking about applying for naturalization but I'm so sick of USCIS... I need a break. And all that money for RoC just to give them more money a year later? Makes me mad! It they would just give us 3 year cards to start with... but no, that would only make sense.
