Marshmellow cookies aren't the same!! It's like a fluffy cream in Tunnocks. I saw a box of 6 in William Sonoma for $9.00 yikes!

Can you pack some OXO cubes and mail them to me? We're out. :-)

Try ordering them online or your local shop but whatever you do, do not have anyone pack them in a suitcase! We brought some back and when asked if we had any meat or plants of course we said no. Well, as it turns out OXO cubes are considered MEAT! We had to go through secondary screening and were lectured about the high risk of bse (mad cow) being spread. The woman showed us a document that said no dired meat and stated OXO cubes are banned. I have no clue how our local British shop gets them in but I'd rather pay the $5 a box (rather than 1 pound) then get into trouble.

They really are that good. My husband makes a really nice Shepherd's pie and a roast beef gravy using them and we have tried every other stock substitute but none are even close to being the same.

I firmly believe (and frequently complain to my husband) that a cup of tea (hot - not that cold sweet stuff;) just does not taste the same when im in america... Ive found all my fave brands of tea.. but it never tastes the same as it does in england!! my hubby thinks im crazy (prob right) .. but he isnt a hot tea drinker and doesnt understand lol.

Luckily we have Fort Drum near us so we do the shopping on base and they have quite a bit of british food in... the one thing i miss and cant find is suet to make dumplings and jam rolly polly with. will keep searching.

Awhhh hes a keeper if he had your tea bags waiting for you lol ;) think it is the water that makes it taste.. just not quite right

1 thing i will miss is a decent fish and chips every now and then.... having said that, on my first ever visit over, my hubby had spotted in the paper that just across the border in canada (40 miles).. think it was called brockville... that there was a fish and chippy... that apparently served propa english style fish n chips.... so he said he would take me and he did, wasnt expecting them to taste as good but i was well impressed, he even tryd them for the first time and thought they were yummy. Still makes me chuckle that we drove from america in to canada in pursuit of english fish n chips.
