Good morning

My fiance wasn't told but I remember reading that the envelope that is given is not to be open that it would be open by the airport but which airport the one in his country in Haiti or at Miami airport?

No the envelope is given to the Customs agents at the POE. Make sure it stays sealed. It is them forwarded to USCIS and that is required to happen to be able to obtain a SSN and later AOS.
