I am a new member to Visa Journey, not sure how it works. I mailed my N-400 to Phoenix on 11-15-2011, living in Fresno, CA. Waiting for my check to be cashed and a letter.

The problem I may have with my application is that I didn't include my current marriage certificate, but I did send a divorce decree from my previous marriage. Anybody knows if it will delay my application? The reason I didn't send it was because the document checklist asks for a marriage certificate in the situation where the applicant applies for Citizenship based on the marriage to a USC, which wasn't the case in my situation.

Got notice via email today:

On November 18, 2011, we mailed you an appointment notice to have your fingerprints taken. Please follow the instructions on the notice. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators.

(original priority date was 11/9). I will update once I get the letter with the appointment, though with the proximity to the holiday season I will probably go to the LA office to get EB.

QUESTION: Once the appointment for fingerprinting has been sent out, have they already gone over your documents and passed you? I am concerned because I was advised by the LA Bar Association Immigration Assistance Project that it was NOT necessary to have my documents pertaining to an arrest be court-certified, to just send photocopies and have the certified copies ready at the interview (I only have one copy of each document and it is not easy to get other certified copies).

Can they still ask for further documents after fingerprinting or am I good to go, at least unless the fingerprint check brings up any other issues (which it should certainly not!)

11/21/11.....Check cashed

11/23/11......NOA recived in the mail(priority date nov 14)(notice date nov 21)..(you will be notified of the date and place of your interview when you have been scheduled by the local USCIS office.you should expect to be notified withing 90 days of this notice)

12/13/11......got text and email about biometric letter being send out

12/17/11.......got biometric letter in the mail(appointment date dec 28th)

12/19/11.....did early walk in FP

12/22/11.......got email and text about being placed in line for interview scheduling

01/30/12.......got email from my IO were i was asked to pick my own interview date and send email back with the date i picked

02/06/12......got INETRVIEW email with appointment letter(have to print that out and bring with me on the interview day)

02/28/12.......INTERVIEW with oath on the same day(as long i pass the test afcorse.)

Got my Biometrics appointment for 12/6/11 at the Los Angeles Office on Wilshire BLVD. I was concerned it would conflict with my holiday travels and would have to do EB but because of my busy schedule this might be as early as I'll have time to go and get them taken anyway.

Actually because of holiday travels now I'm concerned that the INTERVIEW would take place during when I'd be away on holiday travel, so I actually may not want to be in too big of a rush. I'm especially concerned still that they may need extra documentation (I sent court documents as a photocopy becaues I only had one certified/original copy of each document), and if so I'd probably need extra time to gather the documents because of the holidays and because the court is in a state across the country from where I live.

2010-9-08 : Card production ordered

2010-9-15 : Green Card received, with incorrect first name (one letter missing)

I-90

2010-9-16 : Sent I-90 with Green Card

2010-9-17 : I-90 delivered

2010-9-24 : Receipt received. Notice date: 9-22

2011-2-08 : Card production ordered

2011-2-10 : Card received with NO errors.

11-22-2011 :Sent

02-21-2012 :Interview ( a long delay afterwards)

05-18-2012 :Oath - US citizen
