Igor's List gives you a rough indication on where the service centers are up to with regards to applications for members of VJ - this can give you an indication of when your application will be processed. For example you might have filed in July (judging by your joint date) and Igor's list tells you that at the moment they are processing / approving applications from June in California and July in Vermont so if your application is in VT you should be receiving news hopefully soon, if yours is in CA then it might take another couple of weeks. It's not official figures or hard science - just a way to get "a feel for it".
