Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone can share their experience/knowledge on this issue. I went to school (undergrad) in the US from 2003-2007 and then worked their for a couple of years under H1 B visa. I'm Canadian Citizen and later worked on TN visa for a few months two.

Question: Do I take all the I 20s (from F1 student visa days), H1 B documents (I 797) and other such documents including the US tax returns/W2 from the past? I don't see how would it be relevant to my current K1 visa interview, but I just wanted to run it by you guys! Better safe than sorry I suppose!! Thanks

I took mine but they weren't asked for. Better to be safe and take them though. I took my old passport with the previous visas, and all the paperwork I could find.

Thanks guys for your responses. It make sense as I have everything. Lainie, sounds like you lived/worked in the US too prior to you K1 visa process. Did they ask anything at all. Things along the lines of the companies you worked for, how much you earned, why did you leave or tax returns.

I know you've mentioned that they didn't ask about anything, but I'm just curious if there's any discussion at all about your presense in the US on a different visa? Thanks

Not unless you met while you were in school.

We actually were just friends back in the good ole college days, but didn't start dating until after school!

May as well bring it then. I believe they ask you about all of your trips to the US/what visa you used to enter on one of the DS-somethings anyway. But the other poster is correct, it's never bad to be over-prepared and bring everything.

It was all listed in my answer to the question to list all the times I had been to the US before. They never asked me anything about any of my previous visits. That's not to say they won't ask you - every interview is different.
