K1 Medical exam at St Lukes

My fiance will go for a medical exam for her pending K1 visa. Her marriage in the Philippines was annulled. The application at St. Lukes asks for status such as single, divorced, annulled, widowed, etc. Does anyone know if St. Luke's asks verbal civil status questions in depth or if it is just a form question on the application. Her minor child has the surname of the father listed on the birth certificate. The father has been absent and missing for many years.

just went thru this, had her medical yesterday. Like you she had a marriage annuled. You will need to bring your annulment paperwork to st lukes. Depending on what it says you may have to take a physcological exam. Lucky for us , my fiancee didn't have to take it, because her paper work said her ex was a nut lol

This is right. The most common reasons of the annulment is psychological incapacity. It doesn't mean you're nuts, Kevin is just joking because it can be the ex, the woman or both. There's one annulled VJer's here. She went home tearfully after her medical exam. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/334535-mental-health-psychiatrist-said-at-st-lukes/. Just read through it.

Hi there! Your fiancee has to state her current status while filling out forms at SLEC. If she is annulled then she needs to bring her annulment paper. SLEC determines if she needs psychological exam based on her annulment proceedings. If only ex-husband had been declared with psycho problem then she does not need to take psycho exam.

Regarding her child custody, I think it is also declared in the annulment decree. There were cases like the consul asks for written consent from bio father allowing his child to immigrate with the mother. I am not sure if minor is not needed like 7 y/o old below. Hope someone experienced members could help give you an exact answer. Good luck !

She will be fine ,i had psychiatry evaluation bcuz my annulment proceedings stated that me and my ex were both incapacitated but then no psycho test for me,the psychiatrist who evaluated me was mean ,said something to me that has nothing to do with the evaluation that made me cry hard...I tell u just bring the proceedings of your fiancee annulment(the decision) and they will find out there if she needs evaluation and test.... Goodluck hope everything will be fine...

Its correct, if you were not named incapacitated then no psyche eval. As for custody if the anullment states custody is with mother then no letter from father needed. Some here at VJ will tell you it is needed but that is based on US custody laws and in a K1 US follows the law of the beneficiaries country. Jim.

More questions...

The Decision for Annulment in the Philippines said both parties were mentally incapacitated to be married so they met the requirement for annulment. Does anyone have any advice whether it is best to try to get an outside Psychiatrist to furnish a report that she has been reevaluated and found to be currently capable of marriage. Also, has anyone been in the same situation and just used St.Luke's Psychiatrists to get the current evaluation. If so, did you have to pay an addition fee and how much. We all know that the true nature of having to do the follow up psychological exam is to make more money.

Thank you

Best thing to do is "search" that scenario here. I have seen it done 2 ways, some had psyche eval at St Lukes and one where St Lukes made an appointment for her to have an eval 2 weeks later at another location. I can not say if they will accept an independent eval that you set yourself. Jim.
