How long before I can start work?

Finding it confusing to figure out how long it will take for me to legally be able to work and therefore start applying for jobs etc. I am trying to put a budget together and the amount of time I will be going without working is a big part of that.

Am I right in saying that after arriving in the US and get married I will file for AOS to become a Legal Permanent Resident. I will also apply for an EAD.

Does the EAD card give me the right to work in the US?

How long does it take to arrive after the biometrics?

How long does it take to schedule the biometrics?

How long does it take for the greencard to arrive after this?

Is there any difference to the US employer with regards to EAD and Greencard?

Sorry for all the questions and I know all this info can be found somewhere on the site but it seems allot of linkes etc are down and I am simply useless on the internet.

In my head I want to have enough money saved up to live comfortably for over a year without working. I think thats a realistic thing to go for. If i find work quicker its a bonus and I have a fair amount to invest, buy a hosue etc.

about 1-2 months or so

About 1 month

it can take upto a year after it all depends on where your file goes to

There shouldn't be any difference no

Nearly there, and for those who are just starting the k1 it is a long wait but once it is over the time feels well spent

After you apply for your AOS, EAD and AP, your card should arrive in 2-3 months, biometrics needs to be completed. They got ours done fast. AOS slow.

AOS is very slow... *sigh*

After you apply for your AOS, EAD and AP, your card should arrive in 2-3 months, biometrics needs to be completed. They got ours done fast. AOS slow.

Naturalization Journey

09/29/22.... filed N-400 online

09/30/22... NOA/biometrics reuse

01/23/23... interview scheduled for 02/28 

02/28/23... successful interview + oath ceremony in Santa Ana, CA! so proud! certificate of naturalization received! --> Read the review here!
