Omitting Place of Birth on a Canadian Passport

I am in process of getting a passport and want to know if "place of birth" is omitted on a Canadian passport, what can happen when visiting US?

or how many countries are there that do require the "place of birth" on the passport, does anybody know?

has anyone here done this? how did they handle it on the US side? are there interrogations?

i'd appreciate it if someone responded. thank you.

I'm 99.9% sure they put the city and country of birth, even if born outside Canada, on the bio page of a passport.

I would imagine since it's required information, with out it, your application will be rejected.

After a google search I did find this: Passport applicants may request, in writing, that Passport Canada not list the country of birth on their data page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_passport

Your place of birth must be provided on the application form. If you do not wish the place of birth to appear in the passport, a written request must accompany the application. You should contact the consulate or embassy of every country you plan to visit to ensure that you will be admitted if the passport does not include your place of birth."
