Hi All!

I forgot to renew my passport and have to travel for work in 3 weeks. (prob not enough time to get new passport.) I have a Conditional greencard and will be flying American Airlines and Delta to Canada and back.

I have a valid New York state ID and greencard. Can I travel to and from Canada?

I have read conflicting reports online. Some say YES you can get into Canada with a greencard, others say NO you must have a passport.

Anyone ?

I called Passport Canada and they couldn't confirm. GOing to contact the Consulate.

Any help is appreciated.

You are required to have a passport to travel by Air. There is no exceptions.

Where are you going in Canada? An option to consider might be to fly to a border town in the US then rent a car and drive across the border. You can use just your green card for a land border crossing. You do need a passport to travel by air to a foreign country.

You absolutely need your passport to fly from the US to Canada and back. I would call Passport Canada asap and see if you can get one issued quickly.

Removing Conditions

Sent package to VSC - 8/12/11

NOA1 - 8/16/11

Biometrics - 9/14/11

I would - I've done it in the past. However, I don't have time or extra cash at the moment to get up there and back quickly enough before I need it. Thanks for your responses!
