Please, kindly advise me on this. Is it possible to get my visa without my hubby's tax transcript? I will like to know if it is a must to provide it at the Ghana US Embassy.

one latest (2010) IRS tax transcript or a copy of full federal tax of the petitioner's return is required with AOS packet.

I would certainly advise that you get tax TRANSCRIPTS, not tax returns. See below which I copied from the review page.Good Luck.

My first interview was on December 23, 2010. I was called around 12:30 (20 minutes after fingerprinting and documents submission) and the Consular Officer (CO) was very nice and professional. I didn't have any complication just a normal conversation as to how and when I met my wife. My wife and I were missionaries in Indonesia and got married there, and the CO happened to have stayed in Indonesia for 12 months, so our conversation took another dimension - we talked about Indonesia and favorite Indonesian food and stuff! In all it was a wonderful experience. The CO had no issue with me except that I didn't bring tax transcripts for 2008-2009. The CO said: "I'm fine with you and I don't have any problem with your relationship, but there's a little problem; you didn't bring tax transcripts for 2008-2009. This is what we're going to do: I'm giving you a form that I want you to scan to your wife to get you those papers. I would have asked you to come back tomorrow, but it's going to take some time for her to get you those papers. How about January 12?" So I was given another date (January 12) to bring the tax papers.

This post did not mention anything about submittion full tax returns for 2008 & 2009 and that the CO still asked him to submit the tax transcripts. Many a times petitioners just submit latest (2010) tax transcript or full tax return and do not submit the previous two years (2008 & 2009). I think this is a case like that. I haven't seen CO asking for tax transcripts when full tax return has been submitted.

So while getting a tax transcripts is good (just in case), you are still fine with the full tax returns.

Whether submitting more than the most recent tax return is advised would depend on the circumstances. A complete tax return including all schedules is always acceptable and sometimes preferred to a tax return transcript. When a petitioner has been employed at the same place several years and is well qualified based on income, usually one tax return or transcript is sufficient.

These are excerpts from another interview.Jen is the petitioner and Bbs is the bene, jen and babs who had their interview approved recently.Again this is from their experience at the embassy taken from

After that the officer mainly asked me questions. He asked me about when I was in Peace Corps and how many times I had been to Ghana and looked at my passport. He said all of our evidence was fine that he had no questions about our relationship and that was the good news. The bad news was that I don't have tax transcripts and the Accra embassy requires tax transcripts. I asked why when I had two other forms of evidence like the I-134 form required, but he said it was a post policy so there is no way around it. He said I will need a cosponsor since i was not regularly employed last year and can't produce tax transcripts.

That was the bad news. But it wasn't too bad because he gave us another appointment for the next week. That gave us time to get a signed ORIGINAL I-134 from the co-sponsor with tax transcripts (only). the transcripts could be faxed but the form had to be original signed so we had to get it DHL. The officer was really helpful as far as giving me specific information about this.

The following week Babs went back and turned in the forms from the cosponsor. They didn't ask any more questions, but we had a mistake with the tax form (tax returns instead of transcripts). The officer (a different officer from the last time) gave him the link to the IRS website and gave him another appointment two weeks later. Really they were pretty patient with all of that. By the next date we had the transcripts as required and Babs handed them in. They took his contact information and said they would call him about when to pick up the visa. Now we are just waiting on Administrative Processing and praying it will be taken care of quickly. Thank God for getting us this far.

Tax Transcripts are a must in Accra Ghana....be advised.

Ghana looks like an except consulate. Since Ghana consulate requires IRS Tax Transcripts, then the OP needs to get those and go for the interview. Will note this for future help.

Your spouse should have turned in the tax transcipt to the NVC to get the interview. You may not have a copy but I am bit confused on how he closed out with NVC to get you an interview when those documents are required to be turned in to the NVC and forwarded to the consulate. As previously stated you need them to prove he can sponsor you financially.

Good luck,
