Proof of citizenship for co sponsor

Ive just sent off my IV and AOS packets to NVC, and now ive just read something about having to supply a copy of the co-sponsors birth certificate or passport as proof of citizenship. Is this correct?

So will I get an RFE for this information or will I have to bring it to the interview?

And is a photocopy of the birth certificate enough for the co sponsor? or do I need the certified/original birth certificate.

I had not read anything about this. I have sent my co sponsors I 864 form and tax return for the recent year.

Thanks Sara

A copy of birth certificate worked fine for my case. Hope they will allow you to bring the document on the interview date.

Cheers,

Also, I didnt send proof of current employment- only last years tax returns for the co sponsor. I thought that this was only needed for the sponsor- i sent recent pay stubs for my husband.

Does the co sponsor need an employment letter, and recent pay stubs or is either of these sufficient?

Always read the full instructions before filling out forms and you will learn a lot. See page 6 of the instructions http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864instr.pdf

Get a copy of the Birth Certificate if born in US or a copy of naturalization or a copy of passport - any one will do. Since you already sent the AOS, send this copy if you get a RFE else take it to interview.
