We filed with the Phoenix lock box Sept 3, got a NOA Sept 6 and the check was cashed Sept 9 but ever since then nothing, we've called USCIS and have been told to wait until Oct 8th...are others seeing a similar situation, not sure what's taking so long in scheduling the fingerprints...

Mine took a month before the online system updated. Some DOs take longer than others. However, do you remember when was it last you had your finger prints done? If it has been less than 12 months, I think they consider them valid and will skip the FP appointment.

I thought every application requires its own Biometrics appointment.

Here again applying for the 3 or 5 year makes a huge difference. USCIS at its option holds the I-751 biometrics for 15 months, and if you applied at the earliest date, someone may decide to use your last biometrics. But they don't tell you that. Way out of date for the five year. But now they are taking biometric photos they weren't doing before, can expect a blurred photo on your certificate.

Then you sent your application in after Labor day where many have the option of taking off the full week. Also with marriage, they have a lot more evidence to look at.

We were told to expect processing of near a year, but took the attitude, so what, wife had a fresh foreign passport and a ten year green card. And when we applied, for biometrics, interview, and oath ceremony, another 1,350 miles of driving and lost time at work. Then the burden of studying for that civics test and compiling tons of evidence.

But because we had the attitude, what's the rush, it went very fast for us about four months from start to finish.
